As of 2015, any home grown talent at the club will only be counted as 100k on the cap, so Leeds could pay Kallum Watkins £1 million, but he'd only be counted as 100k.

Has this been confirmed anywhere? This would be applicable for quite a few of our squad I'd imagine, although not sure how many are on over £100k. Great change if true.

It was part of the structural changes policy review in September. It has since been ratified as part of the structural changes (or rather I've seen nothing to suggest that it was dropped before it was ratified) - specifically here (5.3.11)

As for the marquee signings rule, nothing more has been mentioned since koukashs moan. It was included in the policy document above though (5.3.14) - when it will be introduced I don't know.

Looking at the current playing roster I'd say the following home grown would be on over £100k

Ryan Hall
Danny McGuire
Kevin Sinfield
Kallum Watkins
Carl Ablett
Rob Burrow
Jamie Jones Buchanan (maybe by £20k)

If we were paying 4 of those players over £100k in 2015 and beyond then that would really highlight how our management at the club had lost the plot. They would never get that money anywhere else at this stage of career.

I am not even convinced the other 3 will be on over £100k.

Its good news imo the likes of Kallum & Hall deserve it plus if i've understood it right this then means we can pay Hardaker more within the SC!!

A good step forwards on keeping talent in the game and in this country. The downside is that it favours the big clubs, but the salary cap has been fixed for a good number of years, if clubs have not caught up there is no sense in dragging the rest of the game in this country down with it

I think the bigger clubs will start to break the salary cap deliberately soon, the game cannot lose more players especially the like of Kallum Watkins so close to burgess going.

To a certain extent it favours the big clubs, it also favours the so called smaller clubs with ambition that develop players, for example Castleford.
