| Quote: Him "I think his performance in the centres or on the wing this season haven't been good enough, and have been below that of BJB, Hardaker, Watkins, Delaney, Ablett, Hall, Webb and even Senior.'"
Good politician's answer.
With regards to FULL BACK and your comment the re-signing of Webb is not bizarre .. Do you think Smith has been given equal opportunity to stake his claim to his - by far - best position ? Considering the additional FB cover at the club I repeat it is bizarre that an ageing past-his-best quota using antipodean was re-signed.
I wonder how much better Webb would have performed pushed from pillar to post in the threequarters with Smith left at FB ?
As for the threequarters I have repeatedly stated my opinion the club's first choice line up should comprise Hardaker, BJB, Watkins and Hall in some combination.

Something I suppose you'd level at Gilmour. Pryce and Wilkin then too I guess.

Why ? Effective versatility is better suited to some; on others it is imposed regardless.

No Smith has not had an extended run at full back, because Webb's performances have been good enough to keep the position for himself and when Smith has had opportunity in other positions he hasn't grasped that opportunity. Why should an established first teamer who is playing well in his position be ousted simply to see if Smith can give it a go when Smith isn't exactly beating at the door?
Considering Smith didnt get extended runs at full back under 3 different coaches, maybe they all thought Webb was a better option too.

His display as emergency cover at the Grand Final did show what he could

I agree. But are we seriously suggesting that one performance 3 years ago is justification for keeping Smith over Webb's years of generally good performances?
I'd like us to keep Smith, I think he provides useful backup to the wing, centre, full back and at a pinch even hooker. But if I had to choose between him and Webb for next season I'd pick Webb every single time.

& then pick BJB at fullback over Smith.
At best he's now 3rd or even 4th in line (after Hardaker, eh, Nantwich Exile?))

He has definately had 2 meetings with Hull KR this season, they must not have been able to agreed terms if this is the case.
He also voiced his unhappiness at Leeds at this moment in time, if he was offered the right deal elsewhere he'd be off in an instant.

Sounds about right.
I thought maybe Sykes would fit in better with our set up these days.
