It wasn't a clever tackle technique and Walker was probably lucky not to get injured too. However it wasn't Illegal, and when the adrenaline is running along with frustration, there's always going to be some disregard for personal safety.
Anyway hope he gets back on the field soon.
And to the people who say it was out of order, THIS ISN'T TIDDLYWINKS, THIS IS RUGBY LEAGUE!!!'"
I take it reading is not your strong point so I will do my best to repeat the context of my concerns.
I didnt say the hit or the accidental contact was out of order and if you can read my post you will see I conceed its indeed a big boys game.
What was not on was the wardance of delight AFTERWARDS whilst a fellow pro is lying badly injured.

What I do have a slight beef about is the mindset of some of the Cas players with 10 minutes to go. This was evident in the wardance afterwards whilst a fellow pro is badly injured on the floor. WELL OUT OF ORDER IN MY BOOK.'"
How often do players celebrate when they make a big hit?? Every single time, this time was no different
Remember a few years ago when Anderson put in a big hit on Danny Tickle and screamed at him while he was on the floor, its the same thing. Adrenaline takes over and last night Walker was the same, although he quickly realised it was serious after Burgess failed to move.
Hope Luke gets well soon, just a shame an accident has caused him to miss the CC final

| Tbh he just didn't even look like he had control of the hit, his body seemed to relax just before the hit (Walker that is) which resulted in his head flying forwards. Completely accidental.
As for the celebrating afterwards, Leeds are one of the biggest sides for the jumping about and celebrating a big hit, how was the Cas lad to know how injured Burgess was? I think as soon as it became apparent the players stopped celebrating, and I don't see how you could have expected them to act differently. I doubt your team would, and thats not an insult, its just part of the game.

No-one is disparaging the reaction of Walker after the initial contact (or any of the Cas player either), most players would have reacted in exactly the same way.
Although it has been discussed to some length on this thread I don’t have an issue with the tackle itself although it’s execution from Walker could have been a little more controlled and Burgess’ positioning a little better.
The issue here is the reaction and continual chanting from a set of fans that have already proven this season that they have little or no regard for opposition players, decency or the law.
This is now what we have come to expect from the Cas ‘faithful’ and TBH should come as no surprise.

Yes back slapping and high fives etc for a good try saving tackle or forcing an error is now part of the modern game but not jumping and celebrating when there was clearly a very huge problem with Burgess.
But to be fair I will watch the incident again in the cold light of day so to speak.

Cas did some poor tackling yesterday, but even IF Burgess had won the collision and not been knocked out he was not in the open, Westerman and Sargent were about two feet away. IMO, had he not been knocked out his momentum would have been halted enough for those two to wrap him up. Job done as far as Walker was concerned and we will never know if LB lost the ball due to the impact of tackle or clash of heads.

Players often do that and JW was no different. The example earlier with Vinnie Anderson on Tickle, Anderson is leant over Tickle shouting in his face while Tickle is struggling to move. What about Guttenbeil on Catic when Awen is practically sat on top of Catic and even slaps him as he shouts in his face. It happens lots and either you watch the game or are just a keyboard warrior. Our game is full of these hits and players celebrating them, so will people please stop making something out of nothing. Anyone who still believe this isn't the case, go spend half an hour on youtube.

| Quote: ROCHDALERHINO "The big issue for me in the Luke Burgess injury was that at 78 minutes and 38-6 down the game was dead, For the young kid to run 50 metres in the dying minutes of the game and put such a hit on an opposing player, accident or not, for me there was clear intent to do damage. Had he and the rest of the Tigers team played to a similar level for the previous 78 minutes (Chase & Ferris apart) or had the score been really close it may have warranted a hit like that, not that I'm saying Cas should have rolled over and accepted their fate but there was nothing to gain other than to put an opposing player in hospital plus the celebration was shocking.'"
So now a young player isn't allowed to show commitment for 80 minutes and put in a big hit? the excuses get worse
Seriously, what is agreeable about ANYTHING he put? if you think a kid trying to put a big hit in and show effort is disgraceful etc I'd suggest RL is too rough a sport for you to be watching, go watch Football if you think he was being too rough for your precious little mind.

Because its a morale booster to put a big hit in. At least shows you put some effort in.

Bingo.
The poor me attitude the Leeds fans have over this is quite amusing, they've made a big deal out of an accident and a kid showing some effort and commitment, he's only played a handful of games, of course he's going to want to make an impression, not to mention the big hit seems to be his "thing", the Burgess twins in the friendlies both got big hit by him, James Stosic did last year (and he went back further then he went forward Walker hit him that hard).

The most serious injury I’ve seen in recent times at Headingley was when Senior tacked Chev Walker and his bone was sticking through the side of his leg.
I suggest you watch the reaction of the South Stand that night.
