| What do our S&C coaches do? He was overweight when he first came here and he's never lost that. Similar to Lolohea, now look at him since he's gone to Salford. Lost a lot of weight and looks a better player. Before I get jumped on, I know Hurrell has lost his mother and that's tragic as I understand he's a big family man. But to be at this stage where we are coming into a key part of pre-season, to be 10Kg over the weight he want's to be is just mind boggling.
I like the spirit of Hurrell, but sometimes it's like he wants to act about and clown around to make the crowd and camera's laugh rather than get his head down. When the team really need to muck in he sometimes goes missing.

Whoa that's simply not true. Puts his body on the line every week, carries like a prop when they are tired....
Just likes a McDonald's but too much...

| Agree with that. He's being playing prop come centre for two years now. Makes tonnes of metres scores lots of tries and sets plenty up. He did drop a lot of ball in his first season, but when you are teams main /only attacking threat there is tendency to try too hard. When he moved to the right last year he looked great. Dream Team two years in a row as well.

| He's also really cut out the mistakes (especially defensive ones) since moving to the right centre position.
Hasn't he made the dream team for the last two years?

| It amazes me that some fans think that the weight of an individual player is somehow the sole responsibility of the coaching staff. Yes, they can provide guidance on what players should be eating and how they should be training, but at the end of the day some players are just bad trainers. Of course, they should be more professional as individuals. But this has to be balanced against the positive contribution they can bring to the team.
For example, it is alleged (I think in Frank Endacott's autobiography) that David Solomona was a bad trainer - and it used to show in some of his UK appearances. That said, even carrying a few extra pounds (or stone!), no-one would doubt that Solomona had the ability to single-handedly win a game for his team, on a regular basis. Like it or not, Hurrell is probably in this category, even though Leeds could probably use him a bit more effectively.

Hurrell is looking pretty lean in the vids hes posting so i guess he's taking all on board what the coaching staff are telling him which is good news all round.Hurrell said after the first lock down he came back over weight wants to fix that for the start of this season.

I agree that certain players can get away with carrying a bit of blubber. I dont mind hurrell carrying a few extra pounds and possibly holroyd as well but the fact that hurrell said he wants to lose 10kg is obviously not a good sign.
I take your point about individual responsibility but the club should be having harsh words with players who take the p#$#.It effects performances ,results and sets a bad example. It often seems to be our foreign contingent also.

| If you're overweight but still making a significant contribution to the side, your weight can be overlooked. No one cares what you weight or look like if you're playing well.
Having a season like Rob Lui did last year and looking like he did. Just not a good look for a professional sportsman at all.

| I think we should offer Hurrell another 2 years on marquee money IF he has another good season.
Offered us far more than most of the other marquee signings in SL (Austin, Widdopp, G Burgess last year)

| In terms of Koni, am I the only one hearing the aim is 10kg lighter than last year going into this, as in it's a work in progress. Not that he is starting from scratch with the weight loss?
If it's work in progress, and it looks to be well on it's way from footage and pics of training, then that's a big positive.

| Definitely a good thing but he shouldn't have needed to lose 10kg in the first place. That is a serious amount of weight to put on.I get he's naturally a big bloke and a couple of kg may even help him but there has to be a limit.
