| People forget this is a job and as fans think everything is a dream but these lads sit there on a Sunday night wishing they didnt have to go to work the next day just as we all do.
Been a massive fan of Corey since seeing him play 9 in u16s. Terrific prospect but if he doesnt want to put his body through it anymore and feels let down by the club then good luck to him.

Clearly knows what he wants.
Good luck to him.

| We all know old pro's who comment about reunions saying ' some are awaiting joint operations and hobbling around and saying they wish they'd never picked up a Rugby ball' . Best wishes to the young man

| It is a shame he doesn`t see his career as a professional RL player and whilst it`s ok playing local rugby with your mates you still need to make a living somewhere along the line.
I hope he finds something that gives him that assurance.
Probably see him sign for Cas or Fev in the next year or so.

| Hm I wonder how long he is under contract to Leeds for?
End of the day, wherever this has come from the club is bigger than any individuals and you just manage the environment as best you can. People make their own decisions within that.
To be fair when you look around the ranks of recent pros you would imagine there's a pretty decent chance of serious injury in this sport. There is probably more work to do around injury prevention and management, because the truth is that clubs (and often players) just want to get the talent back on the park as soon as possible.

| Agree with first part Leeds need to keep his registration and cut their losses- it’s expensive investing in youth so they need tone committed as for injuries it’s a physical game so injuries happen. Bottom line is if you are not sure , then best get out . Good luck with your career outside Rugby

| I'm not sure that I can remember this ever happening before at least for something that's not medically recomended.
It sounds like he has thought long and hard and not been an easy decision to come to. Got to respect him for that and I wish him well for the future whatever it may bring.
No point saying he's going to regret this or that as we have no idea of his mindset or wishes (other than he doesn't want to be a pro RL player) at this stage of his life.

| The only other time I can remember something like this happening was with Bryn Hargreaves, who was a former St Helens forward who played for Bradford in 2011 and 2012. He retired at the end of the 2012 season when he was 25 or 26 years of age. I think that one was a mixture of anger/disillusionment because of Bradford's off field woes and also that he generally felt that RL players weren't respected well enough within the game.

| I guess a lot depends on what he has lined up. There's not many jobs out there that give you the chance to do something you love, while potentially making really good money doing it.
Unless he's got something really good lined up, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back. Some people don't know how good they've got it until they're working a bad job 40 hours a week for no money.

| On the plus side Leeming could be in first grade at Leeds for a number of years, and we have plenty of other talent coming up through the ranks.
Corey looked the best prospect at hooker since
Matt Diskin, so it is a real shame.

| I doubt this is a decision he’s rushed towards, this is something he will have agonised over with himself, his team mates and his family for a long while. Is it an opportunity to train up in a job? A uni course? Who knows but it sounds like it’s been a long time coming and ATEOTD sometimes you have to make the big choice between what is easy and what is hard.

Fair enough. one of my friends went the same route, trained up with a company etc to a very high level while going through Uni.
Money was meh in the early days but now he's on a right wedge and his skills are very much in demand to the point he has the choices of who he wants to work for and is never short of offers.
