Although I have always appreciated Houghton's defence I was one who felt his distribution was a weakness and therefore was not enthusiastic to sign him. However he has been outstanding this season and thoroughly deserves the award for his consistently good allround performances and an unbelievable level of fitness which have changed my opinion.

Perhaps I was over the top - however I'm not a fan of Houghton.

I think he has been outstanding this year. I always liked him, and he would have been good for us as I felt he was a good likeness, playing style, of paul aiton.

He is still a better malcolm alker in my opinion. Has looked good behind a dominant pack but he has done it all year and to high level so I wouldn't argue with the award.

Think the likes of Clark are still more likely to change a game or win a game for you so they would be my preference

I've rated Houghton a long time. He's a very worthy MOS when you consider his week in week out contribution.

A specialist hooker winning MOS. Who would have thought the position was so important.

The second hooker in 3 years to win it. Prior to that, only a further 3 did so in the period 1977-2013.

I think that Houghton is a worthy winner of the MoS award. He epitomises what the award is about.
Having said that I believe either of the other two contenders were would also have been worthy winners.

Indeed, Our hooker was our Player of the year aswell.
