| Who's likely to be part of the golden generation statue? Sinfield, McGuire, Burrow, JJB, Peacock, Senior? You could also make a case for Hall and Ablett to be included.

Probably a large plaque on the wall of the "new" south stand starting from 2004 up to 2015 when Sinny and JP Finish and all the names of the players from those GF WCC and CC wins

Really seen as he's featured in every GF win so far then you'd have to say Bailey should probably be in there.....but I could see that ruffling a few feathers.
Plus I think only Sinfield and Peacock will get a statue. The others maybe some sort of murial like has been mentioned

| I have to be honest and maybe it will not be liked, but how would there be a statue of John Holmes, and not Sinfield individually?
Forget golden generation, Sinfield is the single most influential player this club has ever had in its history. I find it quite unfair he only gets spoken about in the same terms of the likes of JJB, Bailey, etc.

Yes well it might BE a Sinfield statue with a plaque mentioning and telling the story of the golden generation ,similar to the Bobby Moore statue at Wembley

| This seemed to Be a BBC driven thing. I reckon Ray French had a lot to do with it. He fawns over all things red rose.

It is never a good idea to compare players from different generations as each player faced a different set of circumstances which include the standard of teammates and opposition which effect the number of trophies won.
Kevin Sinfield has to be rated as one of the all time influential Leeds players....... but then again so does John Holmes. Sinny has racked up more points than Holmesy however JH was not our main kicker for his whole career. KS has been the better leader but JH had the better natural rugby skills. JH made over a 100 more appearances for Leeds and played for 4 years longer so it could be argued that he had the overall most influence of the two. But as I say you cannot make fair comparisons of the two. Both are greats.
I also think that most fans would place Sinfield well ahead of the the other "golden generation"players but how anyone can include Bailey on the same level as JJB let alone Sinfield I do not know?

| Making this a Yorkshire/Lancashire thing is embarrassing.
Just appreciate the players that have been immortalised and get over your inferiority complexes.

Agreed but corrected for accuracy. And it isn't a complex, just a fact of nature

Aye, that late 70s forward pack of Mick Harrison, Ward, Dickinson, Pitchford, Eccles, Cookson, Crane, Fearnley. Not one to start an argument with.

I'd like to nominate Chris Arkwright for the part but there were many others. John Holmes knew it was coming and still delivered quality ball long and short before taking the hit and rolling with the punches. Different game then - impossible to compare but I have no doubt given the full-time opportunities to play the game John Holmes' passing game would stand apart.

In an era where a half-back who can deliver a perfectly timed ball at the line on a consistent basis is like rocking horse droppings, he'd be a superstar.
