Surely you are not really trying to compare a potential star kid with years ahead of him in the game, with appointing a coach from a playing pool. Two completely different talents, and a ridiculous argument.

What's Dave Furner up to I know he got the boot at Canberra as a head coach but he was highly thought of within the NRL as a potentially astute young coach plus he knows the SL and Leeds.

The likes of Dunneman and Furner will be well wide of the mark.

Recent history suggests it will be a young British coach with inferior credentials to McD and above all more than likely on a part time basis.

So to sum up, it will be underwhelming.

Not sure we'll see any change/appointments in the remainder of this year but 2015 should be interesting.

As we've seen with our 2 previous coaches, there is a shelf-life and personally I think McDermott will have reached his by the end of next year, so we should be possibly looking at a new head coach for the start of 2016.

I'm questioning your assertion that the appointment has to be an external appointment, whilst that is possible, the club has internal candidates that have the potential to be excellent coaches and possibly a better option.

I didn't say they had to appoint internally but that there were options whereas you said it had to be an external appointment.

I then questioned why you would make such an assertion and dismiss any possibility that internal candidates could offer the ideal solution when you lambast the club for not signing up every potentially great youngster in the juniors.

I offered an option which you had completely dismissed and you suggested it was a ridiculous argument. In that case please explain why having to appoint an external candidate no matter the credentials of the internal candidate is not a ridiculous argument.

Firstly, I dismissed the comparison of coaching with young players as ridiculous because it is.

Secondly, I have never said we should sign up every youngster, and lambasted the club for it. That is you obviously getting a bit of a fanny twitch.

Thirdly, I said external, because as proven with Smith, McClennen, and McDermott, coming from outside, not working with the players currently, is a better option than someone continuing on the same way who has been here a long time. Change brings freshness.

Fourthly, I didn't dismiss any option. I simply gave my opinion that best to appoint external, as proven by point three.

I said every "potentially great" which tied in to your claims in other posts that there are some youngsters that are much further ahead than others and these should be targeted. You completely change my post to every youngster, but you knew that didn't you.

Why bring in head coaches that is a ridiculous argument. I was talking about assistant coaches I agree changes may bring in freshness but I also said there may be players who have potential to be great coaches within the ranks who should be considered for an assistant coach position,but you knew that didn't you.

I reckon any appointment of an assistant will involve an external candidate. That's not to say that none of our current or recent playing staff won't have a coaching role at the club in future but I just think it more likely that they'll take their first steps on the coaching ladder elsewhere.
