| Despite the battering the pitch has received, there's no need for any concerns at this early stage. I'd expect it to prove it's world class credentials during the games which really count. It'll probably miss out on the Turf of Steel award due to poor performances during the regular season. However, we can count on Martyn Sadler and LPL to award it the Golden Turf or Best Turf in the World award on the basis it stood up to several knocks and batterings but was still highly successful when it really mattered winning several grass of the match awards in the process, as well as being a highly influential and fantastic role model for all young pitches worldwide.

Whatever financial or other benefit having the Tykes present at Headingley has long since expired. Since Caddick decided to stop ploughing his (and Leeds Rhinos') cash into it, they have no realistic prospect of success. The only saving grace is that they have a juicy amount in the bank right now from their RU share dealing activities; that's supposedly ring fenced for when they return to the RU top flight. Knock off a couple of £m from the total for the money they owe Leeds RL and there's maybe £5m or so, bit less. If they are happy to use that up to keep them going for another decade then maybe they will survive that long. But eventually the pack of cards will fold.
The Rah Rahs have sensed the game is up for a while:

(you may notice some similarities with the world views of many Wigan fans)
As for the pitch - my guess is that for "operational reasons" we won't be seeing them playing at Headingley again until the Spring.

Let me get this straight - that photo is supposed to show a quagmire, a mudbath, and a ruined £1million pitch ?
Really ?

| To be fair, and I was at the game yesterday, they had 3 scrums on the pitch in the first 15 minutes.
Each time the players were taking up large chunks of turf. This was the reason why the referee decided to call for uncontested scrums as the players were losing footing.
Had the game continued with scrums then the pitch would have taken a beating.. but as it was, it escaped relatively unharmed.
So yeh, not really an issue and certainly shouldn't cause any problems for our matches. Might mean Carnegie have to take some more games on the road though....

West Park? They've played at Wharfedale, York and Hull already whilst the pitch was being relaid so there are options.
