I thought Huddersfield didn't want him (not fitting in to their plans etc.) and therefore up for release at the end of the season (All this contract cancelled by mutual consent malarkey)

| The coach likes taking teams on with 16 players. I wouldn't spend a penny on extra players until he gets out of that habit. Bit rich for McDermott to say anything about squad depth when he never uses it.

| I personally wouldn't have thought Lunt would cost too much. It depends really if he doesn't want to be at hudds then there is no point in keeping him if he doesn't want to be there and could be cheap ish.
Not too bothered regarding moon. If we cannot find anyone dramatically better than ablett then give him the 4 shirt with keinhorst being introduced as and when

| Ablett has been brilliant this year at left centre and it s clear that he and Hall make a great partnership. let s keep him there and sign another line busting forward.

| Eh???
Tvoc why the sarcasm?
Both require some sort of a fee to gain release from their current deals and neither would be on peanuts wage wise so where do yiou get they'd be too pricey or cost nothing?

| Ablett to centre, get another quality 2nd rower? or give Keinhorst a chance, who let's face it hasn't really done anything wrong in his games so far.

| As far as I'm aware Lunt is on very good money - long term contract renewal after being selected for international honours. I'm also not sure Anderson would want him to go.

Our lot? Like two cup finals and defending a Championship?
Oddly enough. Watched Moneyball the other night, reminded me of GH's recruitment policy.

Come on.....Leeds couldn't even afford to retain Amor.....
second rower Ablett will get the no.4 shirt
Delaney no.12
Some irony there maybe considering the position the latter was signed for.
Hardaker no.1
Lunt no.9
Ward no.14
Achurch no.15
and.......
Be grateful man....that's your lot.

Is that Wakefield lad (Lauititi) available ? Cannot think of anybody else that is 'affordable'
Ablett has handled the LC role admirably and will probably get the role officially next season (with Keinhorst as probable cover - forget Moon)......but for me he is still best at LF (not second row)

Totally agree....no need to look outside of our current squad to fill this role. Also given BJB somewhat inconsistent form when looking at defence, Keinhorst could potentially have a run out on the wing should Ablett get the nod at . Reading earlier reports Keinhorst played wing at for England and GB students on their down under series win before coming into the U20's.
May be good to give competition to the squad next year and improve both sets of players....just a thought

| Quote: tvoc "I'd much rather Ablett be given the number 4 jersey than trying to find a better centre that's both available and cheap enough to be accomodated.
Yesterday did nothing to alter that view. Very good overall despite the odd error as Leeds went kamikaze leading up to the interval. Makes a better attacking centre than an attacking second row. Defensively he does a fairly similar share irrespective.'"
Ablett may well have been down on the team sheet at centre tvoc, but a number of times during the game on Saturday he was actually switching with JJB and running the second row channels. Quite a few of his excellent attacking runs came from that switch.
Of course, his try and the assists came from the centre role. But his attacking side of the game would be the same if moved back to his backrow postion.

| I think Ablett has done a great job filling in at centre, but I still see some deficiencies in his game that make me think he is 'not a centre'. It was highlighted in those closing minutes of the first half on Saturday. His rugby brain is not quite right for centre and he hurries passes when he hasn't got the fast enough hands to carry off.
I feel putting him back in the pack and signing a new LC would be a positive step for the club.

Disagree, I think he has very good hands, his only real deficiency in the centr spot is lack of any real pace, but it hasn't exacally hampered him too badly

He has quite safe hands, but I don't think they are very good. His brain also lets him down at times and he struggles to read when a pass is on. Pace is another of the things that lets him down in that position. I'm not condoning going out and signing anyone, just because they are a LC either! God knows there are a lot of English 'centres' around with very similar deficiencies who have not got the luxury of pointing to a position change.
Ablett is more than capable of filling in, but to move the team forward I think we need a quality LC.
