I agree it’s not healthy and that’s why I’ve cut back on my social media contributions. This is the first thread in a very long time that I’ve published that’s been centred on me. Apart from my weekly rugby league column, the last thread I published was about a lad wanting to go to Brazil and some posters on here still found a way to go on a tangent and centre the thread on my problems.



The reason why I posted this thread is because I knew it would be of interest to some posters on here. I’m not even going to respond to the posters who’ve taken time out of their lives to post a negative response because their ignorance and personal bias is simply not even worth responding to.



This is what I do most of the time.

I’ve never complained about money in the context you’ve wrote about because I’ve always had enough to enjoy things in life.



As stated in my previous comment, I posted this because I knew it’d be of some interest to some people on here. Life is full of good and bad. Can’t have it one way and not the other.

Staff wanted in one of the take aways in Headingley Damo. Not much but its a job

You see you did this before on the Brazilan thread, anybody who doesn't agree with you that people that are out of work are all trying their hardest and aren't giving any chances and that there isn't any jobs out there at all are dismissed as ignorant, bias and negative (although i can't see how people saying there ARE jobs out there is negative, if anything we are being positive by saying there is, negative people would be the ones saying there is naff all hope out there).
Us 'negative' ones are not the bias ones, we are simply stating examples and facts of hearing about jobs that are out there, just because we are employed doesn't mean we don't see and hear about job availablities on a near daily basis. If anyone is being bias i would say its you as you are on the unemployed side of the fence and don't seem to want to knock anyone on that side with you too badly.

My other half works as a mental health nurse and has a word for people like Damo........ Inpatients.

On a serious note, if anyone wants a job bad enough there is a job out there for them, its too far away, its not paid enough, unsocial hours simplt arent an excuse.

This original post reminds me of an engineer that used to moan all the time at work. He never bloody stopped. It doesnt help you as the more you moan the more down you get. Stop moaning, be proactive and get out there. You come across as a confident lad Damo on here and with your press stuff that you've posted. I know in the article its said you have a condition that can limit your interaction skills. But if you can try and overcome that get out into Leeds one day with a pile of CVs and covering letters and target every single office, restaurant, bar etc you can find. Ask for the HR manager etc and hand them a CV personally. Explain youve been out of work for some time but that you are desperate for a job as you hate living on benefits so much. If you target say 100 different targets, law of average will state you'll be lucky in one of them.

I had an young lad turn up on my doorstep once at work with a CV and that attitude. He was desperate for a job. we had no jobs for him and he wasnt suitable for what we did. I kept a copy though and 3 months later a friend was talking about a job he had going and I just remembered this kid. I remembered him because he impressed me with how he approached me. He wasnt pushy he was professional. I gave my friend a copy of the CV I still had and a week later the lad had a job with my mate. I never spoke to him but bumped into him on a night out in town a few weeks back and he just came wondering over with a pint for me as he had found out I'd passed his CV on.

Now I'm not saying everyone will do that, but I am not special in any way. There are plenty more people out there that would do that sort of thing but the ball is in your court. Only you can do something about it. Job centres etc arent the best way of finding jobs. You have to remember every job they have on their system is being viewed by the masses.

Part of your problem may be your desirse for self publicity Damo. The stuff you have put on the Net may well precede you to any potential employer.

Bingo - more and more employers are looking up potential employee's on Facebook, Twitter, My Space, etc. to see exactly what kind of person they are going to employ.

Dodgy online persona and you are much less likely to get the job (unless the job you are applying for happens to be one where you need to smack yourself in the face with a fake brick).
