Be fair, rhinoms didn't either. Infact far from it, rhinoms was one of the posters calling for McShane to wait for his turn, and have another year learning. But nobody as you said called McShane the next Buderus.
He does however place a lot of confidence in unproven players making the grade. Perhaps you got confused with that.

Yep i can admit to that i do back their potential alot more than perhaps is warranted at times but like i said before i like to wait longer than most to before either writing them off or be proved wrong.

| From what Ive seen hes decent going forward but could improve his defense, I think I'm right in saying he could do a decent job for us?

I think so but like i pointed out he'll need a run of games before you can judge him.

Why has Buderus not taught him this since he's been here?'"
Imagine the deficiencies in his game had he not lived and worked in the same county as Buderus!

RLW did. They listed him as the number 1 young prospect in the world a while back in their top 50 (I can't remember exactly but I think it was limited to players who had not played a 1st team game at the time). This included Australia. No joke. I couldn't help but laugh, even then.

| As G1 said, I thought that youngsters learned so much from watching 'great' players I'm surprised McShane isn't already an international, what with watching and occasionally subbing for both Diskin and Buderus. Maybe the whole idea of kids learning from watching is a crock, like I always thought?

That sounds dangerously like an opinion on an emerging prospect to me. I thought you took a dim view on such things?

The concept of passing on experience only works if the person receiving the knowledge has the ability to turn the advice in to practice. I am sure Buderus will have passed on some of his knowledge to McShane and Diskin, the problem is neither are anywhere near as good a player as Buderus and what comes naturally to him simply isn't possible to lesser players

| The concept is generally a crock. Its been used as an apologia for average Aussies (and sometimes average older English players) as well as 'geniuses' like Buderus. Its not just ability but also style of play. What could Greg Inglis teach Lee Smith about playing centre? Nothing useful I suspect, and not due to Smith's ability - he simply cannot play the way Inglis does at 18 stone and much faster.

I disagree - there is no substitute for experience - anyone in the Leeds side cannot have failed to benefit from playing with David Furner, especially in a game-time situation. His ability to read a game pass on that defence expertise will not have been lost on those who played alongside him. Any centre who spent any time with Brad Godden will not have come away knowing less about centre play - whether they can put it into practice is another matter?

So basically you are in agreement with Brisbane that it all depends on the recipients own ability?

| I've been watching Buderus play for almost two years now and my game has gone to s[ihi[/it.
What do you say about that then?
