If Smith plays on the wing until Donald returns, and plays well, then surely Donald would struggle to regain his place. However, Donald could return and Smith drop to fullback dependent on Webbs form. I can only see it being a positive.

I think it would also add another gamebreaker to our team, which again we seem to be lacking just now. Mcguire seemed to have to do a lot of work on Friday. When Peacock was off the pitch, it looked almost like Mcguire was taking the ball in every other tackle and not particularly getting the support of his teamates in a workload capacity.

Completely agree - Smith always struck me as one of those players that has the ability to pull something out of nothing (Like Mags) even if we're not creating much on that particular day.

It'll be good to have him back and if all transpires i can see this being Keiths and maybe another 1 or 2's last year in the Blue and Amber.

Totally agree with what has been said on here and I for one felt sorry to see Smithy leave.
It does seem odd that whatever led his desire to join RU in the first place has now vanished.
It is also strange that he might just might end up as a bit player waiting for injuries.
Don`t get me wrong I am pleased he will be in our team.
But could all this have been avoided sooner like not recruiting Delaney?

The fact Wasps never gave him a first team match probably didn't help....

Iirc when he was approached by Wasps he was keen to get down south for personal reasons and played a lot of union in his youth add to that a better £ deal that was on offer at leeds.
Like many have said recently and in the past there was an air of regret in his post GF intrerview and lets face it i'm sure he'd much rather be "home" than playing for Wasps second string.

The effort and team spirit IMO are 2 of the positives from the season so far. Our problems at the moment are stemming from the fact that we're not playing the ball any where near quick enough. The players need to work harder to win the collusion, and get the quick PTB. Also our attack is devoid of any dummy runners or planned moves which is making us very easy to defend against at the moment. I would also like to see more offloads and flair come into the attack, we've been very conservative in attack so far this season, but I guess thats what happens when the team is struggling for confidence.
One of the most disapointing things for me is our very drab kicking game, particulary from deep. The opposition are starting their sets at about the 30 or 40 mark, which is making it easier for teams to pin us back in our own half. I think we need to have a more varied kicking game as the up & under or kick to the corner is becoming too predictable.

Can’t say I’ve noticed TBH – usually got my head in my hands or crying.

I’ll keep an eye out – a good one to watch is Ali – when things aren’t going well he tries to motivate the rest of the team when ever we get a decision that goes our way.
