Its part of leeds council but people dont always come from the same place as there local council i come from cas, i have a pontefract phone number and a wakefield postcode, Of those 3 things only the first one is important to the question of where i am from as the other 2 are meaningless administrative distinctions. castleford had its own local council (until 1974 as i recall) but since the less councils you have the more money you save, local councils in the country were consolidated into larger councils, this did not relate to where places were, rather how efficient they could make the administration.When castleford stopped having its own council did the people of cas wake up one morning to find out they were from wakefield? no of course they hadnt, the only change was in the bureaucracy of the local goverment.

A hell of alot of my friends come from kippax as its just down the road so i have gone to school and college with people from kippax and worked with a number of them. None of them say they are from leeds, and many of them vigorously argue as such, one of them i know is a die hard rhinoes fans but always says that kippax is not part of leeds. The only person from kippax i have met that said kippax was part of leeds, was born in leeds originally (somewhere near hyde park as i recall) and all the other locals in the pub that day said he was wrong.

Kippax has its own identity, but is still attatched as part of Leeds. People are from Kippax the same way i'm from Swarcliffe. Which is a suburb of Leeds. The same way Kippax, Garforth, Headingley, Burley, Seacroft, Osmondthorpe, Harehills, Chapel Allerton, Chapel Town, Armley, Beeston, Hunslet, East Keswick, Thorner, Scarcroft are all suburbs of Leeds.

No you're wrong. They are all villages in their own right. The only part of Leeds that is Leeds is the city centre.
