Hearing great reports of Mellor today. Credit to him let’s hope he continues in this form

Think the pack is just about as good as any in the comp. Pleased that King is looking more like it. He's certainly a step up from Wellington Albert. It'll probably never happen, but would be fascinated to see us square up to Saints or Wigan at something approaching full strength.

Apparently Mossop pulled his hair in the tackle. Hurrell went looking for him as far as I could see from the video evidence.
Mossop is allowed to defend himself. Thompson ran in and threw a few, obviously looking to defend his team mate.

Watched the game. Hurrell went hunting and got caught and ended up the hunted. Actually tapped hands with Mossop going off as if to say yep got what I deserved. Thompson May get off unless they say that he started the 26 man brawl running in.

Mellor had a strong 1st half. Funny they moved Rhyse to centre when Koni went off and not Mellor.

Yeah, that's not how it works. Just because Hurrell ran after Mossop doesn't give him the greenlight to spark him out.

Standard defensive move being the first person to throw a punch that. I know whenever anyone ever approaches me I defend myself by knocking them out, you know, just in case.

It was either punch or be punched. If you think otherwise you are being naive about the situation.

It looked like there was too much in the tackle, Hurrell running at a prop probably isn’t the smartest move and once he did I think Mossop is on instinct there.

Six and half a dozen. Actually I think we’re bothering teams with our size down the middle and so there’s a bit of spoiling and niggling to put us off our game.

Excited to see what Holroyd can do with a run of game time because he’s a monster in the making.

He then seemed to have a kids tantrum similar to when he kicked the ball at our medic a few weeks ago like a 5 year old. I don't think Hurrell ran in to punch him, I think he would have simply pushed him or squared up to him... he doesn't strike me as a fighter. Clear red for Mossop.

No idea how Thompson got a red, yes he ran in but so did everyone else. He took about 5 punches from different Salford players. Hicks simply didn't wish to ruin the fixture by only sending one player off. Did Hicks expect us to go hug and kiss Mossop after knocking our player out? Was always going to end up in a melee.

Yep absolutely. We ended up down 2 players over that incident to their 1, albeit we could substitute one.

Also have some sympathy with half backs who aren’t protected by the ref and eventually have enough and take the law into their own hands. Although we can.mr really talk after Tetevano earlier this year…

I think some Salford fans think that because Hurrell got sparked out, it means they actually won the game.

Based on Hurrell's history of regularly punching opponents? Based on Hurrell being close enough but not throwing a punch? Interesting take.

Based on it being a tough sport if someone comes at you when your back his turned you have to protect yourself. He will be banned no doubt but can’t really blame him for protecting himself from what he saw at that moment.

That's not what you said though, you said it was punch or be punched, and there's zero evidence to support that assertion. Players chase players to remonstrate all the time, it's very rare that the player being chased just turns round and decks their opponent.

It's really easy to blame Mossop. Turning round and lamping someone isn't protecting yourself, it's attacking someone else. Other options he had include but are not limited to...pushing Hurrell away, fending him off, backing off himself, putting up some defences.

I'm really struggling to understand the desperate clamour to make out that Mossop has somehow been hard done to here, lots of people making out that he's the first player to ever be chased.
