LEEDS RHINOS are going head to head with Canberra Raiders for Wests Tigers full-back Tim Moltzen.
Wests have offered Moltzen, 23, a new deal but his agent Martin Tauber is said to be in talks with the Rhinos and Raiders.'"

Yeah, he's good.
He's young, and can play anywhere in the backs - so an excellent utility.

Said myself I would like to see hardaker at fullback, but if there really was an opportunity to sign this lad Moltzen you take it. He can play fullback at top level, in the halfs, or anywhere else across the backs. He is of a quality that I think we all thought you could not attract from the NRL now, with the currency rates and the NRL salary cap flexibility.

| He's a very good player, but abit error-prone at full back. I do think he'd improve your squad but he's still not the complete player...

| Reading the comments on the highlight clip he seems to be prone to quite a few errors but does look to posses some genuine pace. He almost just seems to be a younger version of Webb, maybe a bit more versatile.

| I watch the NRL on Premier Sports and agree this lad would be a good signing,but.........................as I've already said I cannot see him coming to England at this stage of his career and I'm pretty sure this is just his Agent getting him a better deal with Wests or elsewhere in the NRL.
With the Wests connection, IF he was going to end up anywhere in SL, I'd imagine Hull F.C stood as good a chance as any and they also need a replacement Fullback.
Given his ability to play SO i'd agree though that he'd be an ideal replacement to fit in with our style of play given how Webb is used as an extra half back creating and linking a lot of our attacking play over the years and i'm not sure yet whether Hardaker or BJB will offer that same linking/creating ability as I see both as good runners in open/broken play from fullback but not convinced they have the passsing game to set as many tries up as Webb has over the years. (would have been more before he became a Quarterback after his back problems )

| Moltzen is one I thought we might be targeting a few weeks ago when I heard his deal to the Dragons (I think) had fallen through. I've always been impressed with him watching Wests. He certainly does have a fair bit of pace and attacks the line with purpose. Runs some really good lines.

Moltzen would be a great signing (if it comes off as I agree it could be simply his agent trying to boost the Wests contract). If we want a fullback in Webb's mould then we are not going to get a better fit. As he's only 23, I think he could still play in ESL for a period and still have time to return to the NRL , like Delaney. Let's hope GH pulls it off! Could this mean the end for players like Smith whose strength is his utility value and Moltzen offers far better quality in these areas?

Smith left out of 19 man squad again for Cas.

BMcD:
"I have heard about the link with Tim Moltzen in the press and he is someone who is on a list but there are plenty of names on that list of available players and there is just as much chance of him not signing for us as there is of him coming to Leeds."
www.therhinos.co.uk/news/19630.php
In as much as you can read *anything* into what Brian says, that suggests there's something in the rumour of an approach to Moltzen. But he does also talk about wanting to see Ryan Hall at fullback...

fair enough if this is a possibilty and its a big if with the NRL wages it would be a great signing
