| Quote: christopher "The cap should be relative to clubs profit IMO
It should be half the clubs yearly profit or £3.5 million whichever is highest
Our current cap is stifling clubs that are well run, we need to raise club’s ambition not lower it'"
What about just removing the cap for academy players? Reward teams that have successful youth academies, or we can just continue being one big academy for Australia.

| If Leeds has had a problem with retaining young players, it's been far more a case of retaining ones we should have let go than losing ones we should have kept.

| Aren't centres with equivalent talent to Newman ten a penny in the NRL? He's certainly strong and explosive enough, but there are questions over his pace in the clear, tendency to hold the ball rather than pass, and general temperament. Let's not forget that top SL produced backs often struggle to make their mark in the NRL, such as Tomkins, Hardaker, and Watkins. Hopefully he will see it in his best interests as a player to stay at Leeds, even if that means putting him on marquee money.

Running with the ball in hand makes you slower than running without, on the Marshall one Ash actually purposely slows down a bit when Marshall was near him, if he had just have carried on at full tilt he would have got there imo'"
When I see Ash breaking down the wing and there's a fast lad running cross-field to tackle him (e.g. Marshall or Field), I always think a last moment change of direction by cutting infield would leave the other guy on his backside through momentum.
Caveat: Don't bank on this theory. I'm an overweight 61 year old who hasn't so much as jogged for 40 years, so what do I know?

| Anyone else in Corporate last night and hear Newman after the game?
Rob Oates asked him about the performance and what Rohan had said to the lads before kick off
Newman went on to say how the boys wanted to work for eachother, togetherness blah blah blah, then goes on to say "well, Rohan said they’re a 2 man team, and yeah French and Field are good players, but I had them in my back pocket tonight”!!
As much as he needs to stay grounded, you’ve got to love the kid’s belief in himself and his enthusiasm. Cracking speech and a great bit of $hithousery in there as well.

Love that! The hit on Field in the opening stages of the game set the platform and you could see Newman had been given the instruction to get at field.

| Harry's aggression, competitiveness and self belief/arrogance is what will put him eventually onto a different level to say Watkins. Known him for years and he can rub people the wrong way but also a great lad.

| I think Newman's confidence / arrogance is what makes him so good. He really backs himself and believes he is better than everyone else and generally he has the ability to back that up.
I always felt Watkins lacked this. Never had enough heart for me compared to Newman.

Made the same comment re. Watkins before seeing your post. 100% agree.

Spot on. Had a chat with him afterwards and he’s just a fierce competitor, plain and simple. Absolute freak of a talent, and Hardaker summed it up when he said "I think Harry has said it all for me, he tells everyone in the sheds that he can win a game on his own". I don’t think he’s far wrong to be honest.

Should do.
If we got no more points Wakefield would need 4 wins from 8 to overtake us. They have 5 tough games (Saints x2 / Wigan / Catalans / Huddersfield) and 3 potentially more winnable games (HKR / Hull FC / Castleford) so all in all it's probably a big ask for them to do that.

Am sure Newman is a top lad. Personally don’t think he’s achieved anywhere near enough yet to be that cocky though. Sport and life has a habit of bringing you back down to earth. Just saying……

I may be in a minority on here but i think it's a bit disappointing if that's what Newman said, particularly about Wigan been a 2 man team. Thinking it and keeping it in house is one thing, but saying it in a public environment is poor imo. The respect Peet showed to Leeds in his after game interview was excellent. He comes across as class act. I appreciate he is the coach and Newman only a player, but I could never recall a similar public comment by Sinny, McGuire, Burrow etc.

| He wants to reflect on where believing his own hype is currently leading Jake Connor.

The biggest attribute of the golden generation was their humility. That’s why we won so much.
I think fans already saying Newman is better than Watkins was is
Completely wrong too……
