Moore has missed 40 tackles to Burgess 13, Moore has made 10 errors to Burgess 3, Moore has conceded 2 penalties to Burgess 5. Some replacement...'"
Does it really matter?
Replacing Burgess with Moore isn't going to alter the fact that at least 8 out of 14 SL teams are utter sh[iy[/ite, therefore it's impossible for Leeds to finish any lower than 6th next season, even with McDermott as coach.

| I've thought long and hard about this all day...I didn't want to post a reaction that wasn't thought through properly...
...but after all that I think this is the most uninspiring signing I can remember other than the return of Gary Mercer. I see few positives to take from signing a 30 year old journey man who in the 10+ years since he left Leeds has shown sporadic patches of good form and little else.
I hope I'm proved wrong, and I also hope there are at least 2 bigger signings to come.

Problem?
As that is not exactly an extensive list presumably he fares better in the other categories.

What deal did he get? You obviously know the details
(I'd have thought that the infamously tight Gary Hetherington would have been in a pretty good bargaining position given that Moore was effectively unemployed).
With the possible exception of Barrie Mac I can't imagine the club wouldn't really expect a prop forward to shift any merchandise.
Lets at least try and keep some sense of perspective.'"
I'm sure Bigjake can speak for himself, but you seem easily pleased. Good luck in supporting medocrity. You can expect lots of it at Leeds in 2012.'"
What in my quoted post makes you think I'm "easily pleased" - I'm merely pointing out that saying no else wanted him and that he's got a good deal is unsubstantiated speculation which doesn't even seem very believable based on the information that is actually in the public domain.

| As for whether I am pleased or not with the signing I think SmokeyTA has hit the nail on the head (in fact I'd suggest he's one of the few posting a rational (rather than emotional) on this thread)...
Quote: SmokeyTA "Moore is cheap, and will do a job, he is experienced and will give us continuity.
If this is the sum total of our recruitment, then I would be very disappointed. As a signing in isolation, I cant complain, he will make a decent squad member.'"
...most of the knee jerk whino reactions on here seem to be based [imoore[/i on worries about our overall recruitment than on judging the individual signing on its merits

Damn button got stuck, should have been 22 penalties conceded by Moore to 5 by Burgess. In the onther categories, Moore makes more tackles, and less than 100 more metres from a couple more carries over 7 more games.
But you knew that anyway...

| Great signing - so much better that the props we have let go.
The clubs he has played at and his representative honours are a true testament to his playing ability.
My niece also has Crohn's disease and it is truly a debilitating illness when it flares up although I can't see it have any detrimental affect on Moore's ability to put in top draw performances week in, week out.
He averages 17.8 games a season and has had a longer 'non-scoring' run then Bailey, with only 40 missed tackles so far this season he'll be a true defensive rock.
Young, talented and disciplined - great signing

| If we resign Bailey, it would seem likely that at least one of Ambler/Amor won't return. Otherwise we'd have 7 props (Peacock, Leuluai, Bailey, Kirke, Moore, Ambler and Amor) plus Singleton and Pitts. Even excluding the last two, you don't want 7 props in a squad of 25 or thereabouts.

| i think were all being abit hasty judging him before hes even pulled on a shirt , on the subject of a 3 yr deal could it be a case of him not taking up a very large chunk of our cap maybe at 30 yr old hes sacrificed a larger some of money for a more secure longer term future with one of the most financially secure clubs in

| Just had a look at the Opta stats on Richard Moore - apart from a good number of offloads he misses more tackles, makes more mistakes and gives away far more penalties than either Ambler or Amor. He doesn't make up for the mistakes by making more average metres than our current squad. Darrell Griffin makes more metres and has missed less than half as many tackles so will at least not weaken our defence in the way that Moore may do.

Moore has bags of potential though and is only 30 years old.

Going backwards from being the dominant team in the competition and champions in three consecutive years. Who would have thought it?
Surely the only way from that position is up.
