I would if thought Wakefield were anything above average - the sad thing is average was all that was needed to put nearly 40 points on Leeds.

What it does show is the inconsistency of teams and how seldom you get two playing at the top of their form in a game in SL these days

Quote: Sal Paradise "The picks and prepares the side and during the game decides on the interchanges and the make up of the side on field during the game. Just maybe he has good games and bad games just like the players.

It could just be that when he picks the wrong side, gets the tactics wrong and doesn't use the interchanges correctly that impacts what the outputs of the team are. In the past Leeds had players good enough to cover for his errors now they don't and its shows.'"

Yes I agree he'll make wrong calls and have good games and bad just like all coaches, I was one for dropping Ablett this week but he didn't. But we were talking about off field stuff.

Surely preparing/picking the team and agreeing the tactics for the game are all off field stuff?

not sure what the coach could have done last night. it was major bad performances and terrible school boy error's that gifted them 3 try's, JJb Ablet, mcguire were just awful. some very pathetic penalties and some woeful one on one misses.
yes he should have subbed them, but the damage was done, he obviously wanted to give them chance to turn the second half around.

Perhaps if he hadn't selected Ablett and JJB then the penalty count would have been reduced significantly the try when Wood simply left JJB grasping thin air may have been avoided etc. You cannot expect 35 year old guys to keep going long minutes week after week. Who is picking the side

Agree there has been a lack of consistency in all teams but I don't think we were average last night. I thought we put in a fantastic shift and have played some excellent rugby this season, credit where it's due and all that.
Anyway the in-laws are Rhino's as are many of my friends so i'm going to have a glorious day icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif. All the best for the rest of the season icon_cheers.gif

Credit to Wakefield they ran us into the ground. We as usual made life difficult for ourselves, turning ball over cheaply with stupid penalties and knock ons. Obviously Wakefield had the majority of first half possession, so we expended a lot of energy jjb highlighted by others was out on his feet. Not to replace him for a spell around the half hour mark was criminal.
Wakefield did nothing out of the ordinary just played with enthusiasm and tackled hard. As usual when we play poorly our play the ball becomes static. The player receiving the ball has no chance against an on rushing defence. A sub standard display and defeat next week will virtually finish off our old trafford chances. Over to you Brian.

Quote: Sal Paradise "Wakefield showed what they were - a pretty average SL side - they didn't win the game because they played fantastic - they played at their normal level Leeds simply failed to show up.

There will be apologists on here who will look to defend the indefensible but you simply cannot avoid how bad Leeds were. The idea that you can have Delaney, Ablett and JJB on the field at the same time is ludicrous yet I would be very surprised if the coach doesn't start those three next week with Ward in the centre. Moon at half doesn't work but the coach will persist with it. Non playing subs will continue - its all good we are second in SL so it must be OK.

Posters like Juan will defend the coach no matter how bad the performance - and according to Printer we have to not comment on how bad it was we have to only post positive stuff - not sure what positives you can take from a coaching and playing performance of that nature
Wakey played great last night, not particularly adventurous with the ball but discipline, set completion and all the basics were done excellently as you would expect. But what you clearly missed was the hunger and effort in the runs, the intensity in the tackle and winning 4(?) drop outs through driving your runner back over the line. You also missed the 1st class kicks that gave Leeds nightmares all evening and the different combinations that your men couldnt answer.

Yes you played poorly, but that was not an average display you lost to.

Anyway, dry your eyes - we had a shocker last week and thought it was season over and now we're feeling good about making the 4!

Quote: bigbosshog "On sky sports he seems to blame Parcell for that defeat.
It's time for him to go after that.

This is not a thread for McDermott to go it's a thread of reality.

It's time we as supporters stood up and said enough is enough second in the league but inconsistent and embarrassing after they way we were exposed just the same as Hull did.

What's going on McGuire needs to be stripped of his captaincy not because we are malicious but because he is not up to it. Watch his reaction when cuthbertson knocks on he holds his head and walks away instead of dealing with it. He is a great player but not a leader.

Briscoe well why on earth is he picked Mcd keeps the faith and the rest of the real world just abuses him.

The coach needs to go before we implode he has done well but it feels like he is just taking the money's now, his media skills are appalling and his interviews are unprofessional.

And no I will not go away or join the coach out thread.

Watch him on sky and then tell me you don't believe he is shot a coward blaming one of his players.'"

Just watched his interview, he doesn't even mention Parcell (or any individual) so god knows what you're talking about.

Mate, you've no chance of making the top 4. If you base your optimism on the fact that you beat a completely unmotivated Leeds team last night, then good luck you dreamer.

Considering they have already played Huddersfield and Leeds, I would be shocked if they won another game. Especially having seen them last night.
