What, that you support players who play for England as that is who they are playing for that day?
Common sense isn't it?

Some people aren't English that watch rugby, Some people don't care about international rugby league, some people would rather remain a neutral just hoping to see a good game.

| I dislike Tomkins as:
a) He's a cheat
b) He plays for Wigan
c) His brother is also a cheat
d) His brother also plays for Wigan
Quite frankly, how anyone is expected, or is deemed 'OK' to boo an opposition player when they play against your club BUT cheer them when they play for England is the epitome of hypocracy.
How many Liverpool & Chelsea fans do you think cheered Beckham when he played for England but called his wife a slag when playing for Man Utd?
Go figure.
At the end of the day, England lost to effectively Australia's 8-9th team. Embarassing.

The fact that you don't know the difference between not/reluctantly cheering a player and fully booing and cheering when someone puts a big hit on them, is embarrassing.

I'd give it up as a bad job if I were you Loz.
I thought it was straight forward, we were there to support England last night - whoever was playing. Sadly, some people just cannot see past club rivalry and get behind all 17 players.

BOOOOOO!
ooooops
Again - You don't have to be an England supporter to have watched the game last night.
For me, club comes before country in rugby league (I don't think i'm alone in that view), on that note I think we may need to agree to disagree on this one.

| It is said that he was visibly shaken after the game because of the booing,so it may be a blessing in disguise for young master Tomkins, maybe he will see the error of his way's and stop cheating and become a better person and player

| Quote: speccyrhino "I was one of those in the SouthStand for this game and can confirm that it was populated by a cross section of SL club fans. The irony part of this responce first.....
SouthStand 'fan fave' James Graham did to the best of MY hearing NOT get grief(for a change) and I would like to highlight his post match professionallism in the way he deliberately applauded the SouthStand based fans.If any one had a reason to ignore them it was him.
However Sam Tompkins did get booed throughout the match...why?For me the reason was best summarised by an earlier post by OLDLADYRHINO,which seems to have been conveniently ignored by WRL fans on here who seem able to bring objectivity to ALL other players except their own.
I too believe ST has incredible talent but just doesnt use enough ethics in how he 'plays the game' and ALL other SL clubs have many fans who find those contradictions unacceptable and thus he has almost become the SL pantomine villain (guaranteed to be booed).Clearly all these fans are wrong of course. Those are reasons I dont respect him,I may admire his skills but I couldnt respect him, that requires an inclusion of his personal attributes and thus he fails big style.
I often wonder if HE will ever think about being booed and reflect or will he just figure you cannt please folk.Maybe he couldnt ever change his style.
Likewise some fans dont bring balanced judgements to matches at the best of times and act accordingley.Next year unless the fixture was at the DW,the responce will still occur,to a greater or lesser degree we cannt predict.
LOL.will the WRL fans then 'pop' on that forum?
Personally I ddint boo.....too juvenile.......'"
In part I agree, but, honestly has his on-field antics in the last 18 months been worse than ANY player we've had playing for England recently? What if Lee Briers had played for GB at Knowsley Road a week after acting like a tart for a penalty again? I suspect the timing of the game, more so than the location of it is a major factor.
Part of it has to be looked at in context - the trapping the arm thing does my nut in as it detracts from the skills he's got. I don't want to have to talk about his play-acting as he's just far too good for that, but he needs to learn to remove it entirely from his game. But if he was an average player doing it, no-one would create such a fuss about it.
FWIW, there is a notable reduction in how often he's done it this season, but if he was playing for Hull KR and doing this, would it get the same reaction? Or if this was Wigan under Noble in 2007?
Somehow, I doubt it.

Or, maybe he'll become disenchanted with England and become yet another top class player that just doesn't care about England as much as his club.
For England's sake, I hope not.

Not if you're a Cas fan, a number of whom came to support the exiles, replica shirts and all, because Rangi Chase was playing.
That says all you need to know about the club v country debate.

But maybe some of the responses of Leeds supporters on this thread will look a bit pathetic too, in the light of JP's scathing attack on a segment of Leeds fans today? He was clearly sure that Leeds fans were primarily to blame, so who is prepared to gainsay him?
Big shame, whoever did the booing. When they put your country's shirt on, all inter-club hostility should surely be put on hold? Even for (grits teeth) Tomkins.'"
Massive leap away from facts there Adey
"scathing attack on Leeds fans" and "clearly sure that Leeds fans were primarily to blame". Those are your words, not his and they're faleshoods.
Here's something that isn't a falsehood. Last night wasn't a Leeds game. Last night the Southstand was full of fans of many, many clubs.
However, even if Peacock had said the words you falesely put in his mouth I'll happily gainsay him. What clue does he have where the boos eminate from in a crowd and which club loyalties those boo-ers have? Maybe he was scouring the southstand for club jerseys which might explain his sub par performance.
Also, JP needs to re-asess his priorities. He should be Leeds first as he was selected last night on reputation, not form. How he got picked ahead of Crabtree is beyond me. Jamie might want to put Leeds first if he wants to regain his international form.
