Don't know him mate but he made a few breaks Sat and looked strong and athletic. Only judged him from Sat.
Welsby is outstanding and Dodd loves a show and go. He looked a brave little fella with a lot of class.
Leeds were by far the better team though on the day.

Marty who do you reckon is looking like a first team prospect now having seen the games this year?
Stephens has something about him, but he is quite small.
We have the usual suspects such as Johnson, Dupree, and those who have already made first team appearances.
Personally I quite like Broadbent, and I also like Lewis Delaney and Levi Edwards.

I'll stick my neck out and say that Dupree won't make a Leeds team. People seem to centre on certain names, and usually ones who look big, as I alluded to on the previous page. Hope wrong, but I have never seen anything in Dupree to make me think it will happen for him. I'll go further and say I also doubt that Muiz will make it either. He might get a couple of games, but have a feeling that might be it, but at least he has something about him in tems of drive and energy, and that does not mean I am writing him off, far from it.
Trout, given the right opportunites may well be good, I hope. Although at this stage I only see what was seen in Manning before him, and another that escapes my mind currently. Hopefully he gets the chance to stake a claim.
I said through the scholarship, that for me Johnson, Broadbent, and Martin were the ex factor of that group. Although Martin doesn't seem currently to have kicked on. Is that down to injuries? Marty can probably answer that better. Holryod has the world at his feet, but I share the exact same concern that I know Marty has here. Where I differ to Marty is that I strongly believe McConnell has the qualities others don't, and believe he should be the one pressed for a shot and see what happens. Walters looks a great capture and in all honesty, I would say probably the most likely of all of them to make a Leeds Super League player consistently.
In the group below that age (first year academy), obviously Burton has the skills, but again can he match that with attitude and focus, hopefully he can. I have always been a big fan of Harry Anderson, and not sure what has happened there, although Mallinson looks handy too. And we see what the others offer over the next 12 months. I do always come away impressed with Stephens though.

| Brad Martin is constantly injured unfortunately and is again at the moment. Hes put size on but cant stay fit. At 16s he looked good but has hardly played in 18 months.
Talking to people they really love Muizz so his chance cant be far away. Hes really progressed since last year to be fair to him and has earned a chance in my opinion.
Corey Johnson is an excellent footballer but needs to improve his contact in defence. Really good player and good dummy half too.
McConnell is a good player I don't disagree with you. Hes a quiet leader in that team. Steps up when needed and when things get tough. The 19s pack is very good when all fit and playing.
Stephens is a player I really like but hes small but hes quick strong and elusive but too early yet along with Burton to be fully judged as you say.

Cheers. Can you see Dupree making it? Since they have come into the under 19's, you see a lot more than me. I just haven't seen anything to think he will.

| In truth I don't know. He has some cracking games and some quieter ones but they've loaned him to York and I hope that's for a reason. Trout got loaned and played 1st team, Sutcliffe was dual reg'd and again the got a chance. If that's way club want to progress with things then Dupree could get a go soon. Hes certainly got size and an offload so we will see.
One lad who never gets a mention and is very good but hardly plays is Waite-Pullan. Hes due back from injury in next week or so. It will be interesting to see what they want to do with him cos hes too old for 19s. Hes very highly rated by people at the club.

Marty, Gotcha, many thanks both.
Interesting thoughts. Stephens does have something, but whether that's at wing or FB in the modern game I'm not sure. He does have great footwork.
I see what you mean Gotcha about Dupree. He is big and mobile, but I don't see the X-factor that Holroyd has. For his size he should be very dominant. When Holroyd played against the Aussies he stepped up and monstered them, that's the difference.
Walters looks great going forward, but I thought he had a shocker in defence against was it Huddersfield? Not sure whether due to injury.
What happened to that Wetherby fullback, was is Sam Little?

| They certainly wont all make it, some are already making it, but these are the handful of players from each age group i really like the look of
Finished 19's eligibility at end of last season - M Oledzki, J Walker, C Smith, D Wait Pullan
3rd Year 19's - C McCllelland, H Newman, Muizz, O Trout, T Dupree, L McConnell
2nd year 19's - T Holroyd, J Broadbent, S Walters, C Johnson, B Martin, S Moorhouse
1st year 19's - L Delaney, J Mallison, H Anderson, R Rowley, O Burton, J Burton, L Tindall, I Stephens
Scholarship u16s - T Nicholas Wattern, A Wallace, S Little, L Atkinson, J Gibbons, O Field
Scholarship u15s - L Edwards, M Gannon, K Morgan, A Edghill, H Oldroyd
7 or 8 year ago id of struggled to name ten players in our whole system who i was excited about for there future prospects, good to see the club has got its eye back on the ball. From the 16's up, every one of them apart from Mallison, Moorhouse and Wait Pullan have gained representative recognition, be it England Youth, England Academy, Yorkshire, Lancashire or England Knights.

Agree Dupree isnt the talent Holroyd is, but when he played for Yorkishire against the Aussies, Dupree had a good game against them aswel, think he's more a work in progress than Tom, but he's got what you cant teach, size and Athleticism. Dupree reminds me of Rob Mulhern when he was coming through, though id say Duprees better than Rob was at the same stage personally.

| It’ll be interest to see where this goes with the academy dropping back to under 18s next season and the reserves returning.

Traditionally we’ve not done well for props from our academy. I remember watching Luke Burgess, Nick Scruton, Bailey, Danny Ward coming through. Can’t honestly think of many then until Oledski, other than Singleton who for me has gone backwards over the last season or two.
We seem to have a few prospects now. I would love to see a dominant, home-grown Leeds pack. I reckon 2-3 years could see it.
What I will say is that we have lads with the talent in this crop, it really is down to attitude now. I guess that’s the thing among the lads though. There is a clear path for them to create a new Leeds legacy together right through.
