I wouldn't be so sure about that. If they keep hold of Powell for a bit longer they will be well in the mix. If they didn't have the injuries and losses of the early season this year which left them a bit too much to do, Cas would've been a real chance of winning SL this year imo.

Thanks for the update & your impressive humility. I think I will re-assess who I watch & why I watch RL on that basis.

I love the defensive side of the game. Watching Cas play tig n pass ever week is not my idea of a good time and why your season was over in August.

Leeds defence before the split (for the most part) was embarrassing. It was still better than Cas.

For any cas fans not familiar with this board and its inhabitants, it's worth noting that a proportion of the leeds fans currently singing the praises of Gale and Powell would be those complaining the loudest had we captured either.
FWIW, I'm with Sal on this: if we go down the route of new coaching staff they should offer a vision of how the team should play that differs significantly from current SL coaches.

For myself, Cas were the team I most enjoyed watching last year. I'd be very happy to watch us matching their style of attacking rugby instead of our headless chicken approach.
However, that requires players who can play to a pattern & throw decent passes when required, to the right & the left.

If we get back to our 2015 style that will be good enough, we totally the invented the wheel with our open style of play then

Powell has come up with a philosophy that wins games despite being the underdogs. Shaun Wane has done likewise. I know which team I would rather watch.

I'm not sure Wigan are underdogs all that often though I agree with the principle. I'd rather have McD for ten more years than wane for 1.

Someone at the club has told me Hardaker to Cas on one year loan with Cas only responsible for a small part of his cost. Review at the end of the year. Personally, I'm not sure he is worth the risk given it's only 6 miles to the Warwick estate.

So we free up very little of his salary and consequently cannot afford to bring in a decent player with any sort of quality
