| He's not the worst we have had, and he won't be the last player of limited ability who turns out. Christ he's not even looked the worst this season.
But a signing that didn't need to be made, and shouldn't have been made.

I've no problem with signing him, in the circumstances. Not a lot to lose in taking a punt of that nature.
What I do have an issue with was his continual selection when it was so patentlty obvious he was out of his depth, especially when incumbent juniors subsequently looked far more comfortable than he when given opportunities.

| Even comparison with Rex Terp is unfair - he went on to play in a grand final for St George in 1992.

| Good news for all parties. Leeds don't need him and Vickery needs to be playing somewhere.

I actually believe that he was handled well enough. He had a good pre-season (by all accounts) and looked ok early on. I think it takes a while to differentiate between out of form and just not good enough. He could maybe have been dropped a game or two earlier, but not many

That wasn't funny at Hull at the time, isn't funny now, and is destined to be his legacy for years to come.

| Full credit to the lad, he came over and had a shot at securing a first team position . Unfortunately he was not good enough, at least he had the guts to have a go.
He will have made a few friends and will no doubt have a varied and interesting travel home. Good luck to the lad.

38511.jpg [b:3v5chy3z]Brian McDermott paraphrased Peter Fox.

| all the best of luck to joe in whichever avenue he pursues next.the last time i spoke to him a few months back up at the stanningley club house he said that if he doesn't get retained by the rhinos or any other sl club then he would definitely head back to the gold coast as they had told him prior to him joining the rhinos that he would be welcome back there anytime
joe didn't cost the club a great deal when he came over on trial or when he signed his 1 year contract at the club,he said he was just happy to be given the chance to earn a full time contract in the first team squad for 2014,failing that he said that he could not afford to re-sign for the club on the terms that he had accepted after his trial period was turned into a 1 year deal
good on him for trying his look over here,ok it didn't work out how he would have wished, but he played in a wcc against melbourne and has also visited plenty of europe whilst he was over here.....is carlesberg did backpackers tours to england then his would be the perfect one

| Well I will wish the lad all the best, he tried the dream and alias he was not good enough. He will have some good memories off his time at Leeds WCC and also he scored a good try at the magic weekend. All the best.

Indeed. The Pennine League perhaps?
In all seriousness, both parties took a punt. It didn't work out. That's life.
Scored the first try on the new pitch. But my abiding memory will, I'm afraid, be the epic kick return fail at the KC.

| Fair enough gamble from the club. Kudos to Vickery for having a go. Looked decent enough in pre season and solid at times during the year. His confidence was shattered after the Hudds game and I think everyone knew the writing was on the wall then. In the end, it hasn't done much harm to anyone.

An oil tanker would have turned quicker in that game .
Fully justified gh's autumn jolly, returning with a bottle of whisky, 200 benson and a turd to polish
