| Headingley Cricket Ground holds a lot of memories and highlights for me. Sadly, that was a very long time ago. It used to be a nice ground but it's now an ugly, soulless place wholly lacking in character and possessing no redeeming features whatsoever. The new stand for the press entourage is an eyesore and a monstrosity that should never been granted planning permission to go ahead. I'd not bat an eyelid if YCCC and cricket moved elsewhere. Somewhere in North Yorkshire would seem a more appropriate location. That's where Tories prefer to hang out anyway.

What if, just imagine, Caddick was interested in selling Leeds CF&A Limited. And had, let's just say, discretely circulated that fact to a selection of appropriately wealthy local businesspeople who might be considered suitable potential new owners for the Rhinos?
One probably wouldn't make big capital decisions, however urgent they are by all accounts, if there was a change in ownership in the offing. Especially if those new owners might have a different strategic direction in mind for the club.

Never mind the South Stand what about a roof for the away end? I know none of you will be too bothered about that but thats the only fault with Headingley in my opinion. I think its brings the stadium down on par with Belle Vue, Craven Park and Wheldon Rd. At least Saints and Salford have addressed that problem as from next season by building new stadia.

St Helens and Salford are moving to new grounds because their traditional homes were not fit for the 21st century not because away fans might get a bit wet in the unpredictable British summer. [size(If Headingley ever gets into such a state then perhaps Leeds will eventually do the same.)[/size
Indeed the 'away' stand at both Knowsley Road and The Willows had a roof over it to drive a wagon and horses through your supposed point.

Something like that thought had crossed my mind, since I had heard it said Caddick was not a well man but was at best hearsay. Is there any truth whatsoever in that last point, or is it bollox?

| Since Mrs GH (KH) is no longer involved at Hull I wonder if the Hs want to buy out Caddick with help from others?

Leeds CF&A is probably a relatively easy thing to divest himself of if he wanted to get some cash in without disrupting his own business (assuming there is a willing buyer anyway). I wonder how much it could be sold for... and would he try to bundle in Leeds RUFC with it - we could do without having another owner who is happy to oblige that ongoing distraction.
I can't imagine Hetherington being able to bring any significant cash to the party as an individual, even if Mrs H has been bought out for a tidy sum at Hull. Even though Leeds are financially stable, GH would probably only really aspire to being a sidekick to a rich backer rather than trying to finance anything himself.

Obviously this is all speculation, but I don't mind speculating.
Caddick's "Rugby Project" has been going what, 15 years. In that time the Rugby League side has achieved as much as could be dreamed of, and more, and the unprecedented on field success will probably never be matched with a salary cap in place.
However, Caddick's background was the Rugby Union side and his dream was to create a Premiership powerhouse, and this has been an unmitigated disaster and bottomless money pit.
The signs are he has given up on the union dream, they are back in Headingley colours with a cheap coach and playing squad. If he has given up, what better time to sell up, retire the project, and Bank a seven figure cheque for Leeds CF&A to partly offset his losses from propping up the 15 a side mob.
As MjM says, it would explain the postponement of the southstand, let the new owners commit to the borrowing; and it might explain why all the stand delay press releases were in the Caddick name and not Hetherington.
100% total speculation mind.
