| FWIW - the Catalans attendance for the Wakey game was over 7000 with about a dozen of those from Wakey - the new stand is under construction leaving just the two main stands and there were not many empty seats available.
as a matter of interest a recent LER game between Carcassonne v Limoux attracted 7000 fans

It's the point I've been making all along.
There's plenty here who seem to be salivating in anticipation of Wakefield getting kicked out of SL. They want it to happen.
I'm interested in discovering why these same people aren't quite as bullish about getting rid of Harlequins, Salford, Crusaders who offer even less to SL than Wakefield do?
Catalans are held up as a SL success, yet their attendances (albeit OK-ish) are not outstanding, and do not dwarf those of Wakefield.
Quins attendance against Crusaders today was 1,766. What are these two teams doing in SL? Where's the calls for those two losing their licence?
PS: I don't expect Crusaders to lose their licence yet... not while they owe the RFL an estimated £700,000 bail-out money. They shouldn't have been bailed out. The experiment in expanding SL into Wales had already resoundingly failed once they were sent packing out of South Wales. I look forward to their eventual termination however.

Do you believe that Wakefield losing their SL Licence will result in the demise of the club? A couple of weeks ago, a large number of posters on their board were in favour of spending 3/6 years outside of SL.

you're welcome - alternatively you can have these figures for the Wakey game
official attendance from the club was announced as 7170 if I recall
attendance according to Sky Sports was 7500
take your pick
regarding Carcasonne v Limoux this was the figure quoted by the 'Independant' newspaper covering the game.
apologies for not being more precise.

Why would you wish to see the termination of any RL club?

Wakefield seem to be the obvious choice at the moment, given the financial problems they have had (which was the foundation of the rejection of Widnes' application) as well as the problems that they have had with securing planning permission for the Newmarket Stadium.
I personally am not salivating at the impeding licencing decision, though the process itself is something that i believe has improved, and will continue to improve the standard of club in the SL. Initially off the pitch and eventually on the pitch.
Quote: Keith Swiftcorn "I'm interested in discovering why these same people aren't quite as bullish about getting rid of Harlequins, Salford, Crusaders who offer even less to SL than Wakefield do? '"
Fair enough, but posting misleading figures for the Catalan Dragons doesnt lend any weight at all to your campaign, which is what i questioned.
Quote: Keith Swiftcorn "Catalans are held up as a SL success, yet their attendances (albeit OK-ish) are not outstanding, and do not dwarf those of Wakefield.'"
As noted above, the Stade Gilbert Brutus is currently being renovated, your point might carry more weight if attendences continue in their current vein upon completion of the renovation, as opposed to during.
And using the figures offered by TVOC, a 50% difference in the 2 clubs average attendance is quite noteworthy.
When you compare the accomplishments of the Dragons against the majority of clubs in SL since Catalans admittance to the SL, they should be considered a success. Admittedly they seem to have declined on the field over the past 2 seasons, but there are other, more established clubs that have also suffered slumps in the same period.
Quote: Keith Swiftcorn "Quins attendance against Crusaders today was 1,766. What are these two teams doing in SL? Where's the calls for those two losing their licence?'"
The calls are there, there are many posters on here that berate the inclusion of both teams in SL. But given the fundamental mismanagment of Wakefield for the last however many years, its not surprising that it is that club that are the main focus of peoples attenton in regards to SL licencing
Quote: Keith Swiftcorn "PS

| I couldn’t give a flying monk about Wakefield; they offer nothing more to Super League than Widnes, Halifax or Featherstone could offer.
They simply make up the numbers and have not and never will challenge for the Championship title.
They’ve got a sh*t ground, sh*t management and a set of narrow minded supporters with small town attitudes who believe that they have been persecuted to within an inch of existence.
Can anyone tell me what they bring to the table that Keighley can’t match?

| The management you refer to left just over a week ago.
The Ground we are trying to sort and probably would be further on if it wasn't LCC.
As for the fans we can all say we have fans that act like that at some point.
Thinking Keighley can offer more to superleague than us then you need to be having a word with yourself..?

Wakefield have had since well before the last round of franchise decisions to sort themselves out with a new stadium.
They wasted time and money they didn't have on a development at Thornes that never got off the ground. Blaming all their stadium woes on Leeds City Council really is a poor effort at justifying their position.

Just like Warrington then... hang on?

Andy... what has happened to you? You used to be a well reasoned, well researched and knowledgeable poster... but you now post myopic opinions without any factual base or even slight argument or justification?

And saying everything is Leeds City Council's fault is a reasoned, well evidenced contribution?
Presumably nobody thought to check before they ploughed time and effort into Thornes Park just exactly when Wakefield College would have been able to vacate, which was one of the sticking points along with the £60m price tag.
It's as ludicrous as comparing Wakefield's situation to that of Warrington, not that anyone would do that of course.

Who said this... nobody! The comment was and I quote "The Ground we are trying to sort and probably would be further on if it wasn't LCC" You understand what the word probably means don't you Andy... clue, it does not mean the same as everything! It is his opinion and a very valid one. The consensus (mine included) is that it their actions were the biggest contributing factor to the call-in.
Quote: Andy Gilder "Presumably nobody thought to check before they ploughed time and effort into Thornes Park just exactly when Wakefield College would have been able to vacate, which was one of the sticking points along with the £60m price tag.'"
You mean Wakefield MDC do you not? The Wakefield MDC that asked Wakefield Trinity to abandon their then plan to build on the old power station site and come on board with a multi-use sports development in Thornes Park instead? 'They' is not Wakefield Trinity mate... it turned out to be a poor call but my hindsight is 20/20 mate... how about yours?
Quote: Andy Gilder "It's as ludicrous as comparing Wakefield's situation to that of Warrington, not that anyone would do that of course.'"
You mean the Warrington that played in a crap ground, to crap crowds, didn't win anything of note for decades but previously a big club with huge potential, a sleeping (but now awoken giant) in an amateur RL hot-bed... and now financial stability? You are right, no comparison at all!
