Pass. They're all rubbish though. Most of them would give pub singers a bad name and X Factor watchers (such as myself) need to get a hobby.

Say what you like about the old style Working Mens Clubs, but when they were popular they provided a platform for any would-be entertainer to ply their trade, or even step onto a stage for the first time, if you could make a professional living on the clubs then the chances were that you had perfected your act and you probably had some talent.
The hard fact is that most of those (with a couple of exceptions) who are in the last 24 have never sung live in public before and their ability is all inside their head (and their parents heads), most of them would not make the grade at a club booking agents audition night and they certainly could not hold an audience for three twenty minute spots.
Unfortunately that is what the popular music industry has come to.

Thats total rubbish, I have seen some real stinkers at Working Mens Clubs and today the talent on the circuit is a bit of a joke in all honesty.
The people that made the next stage of X-Factor can all sing and have talent and to say they couldn't hold a tanked up Bingo playing bunch of old biddies and stuck in the 60s merchants for three 20mins sessions is that far off the mark you may as well be off the planet.
I think you fall somewhere between the two, typical "everything was great in my day sunshine", oh yes indeedy, my backside is was, I've seen the black and white news reels and stuff and it looks like it sucked, Conkers, Marbles, a Football that weighed 10 tonne when it got wet, Cilla Black, braces and working darn pit, garbage.

Simple fact is that an 18 year old kid (or the young girl who wasn't even old enough to be there) has no experience of performing to an audience that doesn't consist of their family and friends simply because they have no such outlet to do so - its why you see so many of them looking foolish at the audition stage because all they've done is sing along to cd's in their bedroom without any critical involvement.
To put together an act of three 20 minute sessions, to entertain an audience that does not consist of your friends and family, to keep their attention when they are not as fixated with Girls Aloud as the singer is, to actually "perform" (which is what most of X Factor finalists insist is what they want to do) is actually very difficult and often takes years of practice to get right.
Hence the reason why the weekly knock-out rounds try to introduce a few different (but predictable) genres - the one-song ponies are quickly rooted out at that stage, its the modern equivalent of the WMC, the sort of grounding that acts used to get within a few weekends of stepping onto a stage.

We are talking about the ones that have made the final stages not the turkeys who are there to entertain the masses - all can sing and would be considerably better than the dross that does the Working Mens circuit, add to that that some of the contestants that have auditioned this year have done the clubs and they were garbage.

Does it, are you serious, the majority of new groups that do the circuit are young and do the same songs you so easily right off as new rubbish, years of practice my backside.

Are your piles playing up this morning ?
There are several in the "final stages" who's first experience of performing live was at the audition, there are some who will be seriously out of their depth when they are given, lets say, an Abba song (there will be an Abba round, there always is) or any other song that they've never sung along to in front of a mirror - why is that - its because they have not yet had to put together a portfolio of songs to fill an hours performance.
In fact its arguable that even the winners of the contest have never had to do that even at the christmas grand final, had Leona Lewis ever done more than three songs in a row on stage when she had a christmas number one ?
Your whole opinion is based on the fact that a young singer with hardly any previous experience (or indeed none at all) can out-perform a similar young singer who has been playing pubs and clubs for a few years.
And I'm the deluded one ?
You've swallowed the X-Factor bull in one huge gulp you big wuss.
