| No need to panick yet IMO.
Although the squad does look a bit thinner than last year the loss of Eastwood could not have been forseen and unless a top quality replacement becomes available, which is fairly unlikely, then we should stick with what we have got.
A couple of interviews with backroom staff in recent matchday programmes have in some way explained why certain players look way down on last years form. Both written while we were top of the league aswell, so not as an excuse for the recent slump. They explained that due to players coming back from the World cup only having 4 weeks pre season training that they have designed a training programme whereby they are still doing the stamina work that should have been done pre season. Other conditioning work has to go on as the season progresses.
I appreciate we were not the only club with players at the world cup and other backroom staff are probably doing something similar, but if we hit form at the end of the season when it matters this blip will all be forgotten.

Apart from St Helens, who are setting the pace. But we all know they struggle to keep their run going until October

But your point about setting the pace in April is a good one.
Another point before peiople start slitting their wrists.
In the lead up to the business end of the season we get two weekends off in August. Plenty of time to freshen up.

They can be the freshest team on the planet. If they continue with the same tactics they have been using this season it will make jack 5h1t difference.
That needs changing urgently. Then we might see a great end.

Do you not think those in charge have the matter in hand and are fully aware what needs doing?
They've already given reasoning as to why things arent right.

Give me a link. Where is this reasoning?
I have heard bugger all in the media from the coach regarding changing things.
Infact all I have hear is "If we continue to work within our systems, and belive in our systems" we will come good. That is far from changing anything , but saying we will stick with it.
Therefore, NO I dont think those in charge have the matter in hand. But if I see a change in those tactics come Saturday then I will say it. I dont just want to see a win, I want to see the way we play improve.

I'm sure someoen has a link. I dont have the time nor the inclination to dig it out.
Even when we were top of the league the sounds coming out of Headingley were that we were behind on preparation for the season because of so many players being at the world cup.

Well if what the coach/captain says is correct and we are behind on our prep why change things?

We'll have to disageee then. You dont become a bad team overnight. Whats happened here is too many players are out of form at once and we look short on confidence. Giving two interception tries away doesnt help though.

If the players were fresher mind and body it would certainly have an impact even using the current tactics - not sure what you can change given the make up of the squad.
The only thing you can do is make subtle changes to the team:
Start with Buderus and interchange with Diskin/McShane.
Swop Kirke and Peacock and play Peacock as a running second row
Swop Hall and Donald's wing
Play Ablett at 13 move Sinfield into the 2nd row and play with two playmakers
Make a decision about right centre either Smith/Watkins/Gibson and stick with it
Start with Kirke and Bailey with Kylie as an impact - he needs a kick though half the time following a kick he fails to get back into the line until the 3rd/4th play - no wonder we cannot make ground.
Convert Ali into a ball playing prop
Plenty of options - not ideal but needs must given the squad

| Every team at some point in a season will hit a mini crisis.
It seems to me that Leeds have taken a bit of a gamble, had a look at the fixture list and thought they could squeeze through a few SL rounds and a CC fixture. Worst case? Your out of the cup (and of course no one would've predicted getting Saints so early on) and you've lost a couple of SL rounds. No big deal when all you need to do is make the play offs to be in with a shout come Sept/Oct.
Had this been pre-playoffs the it's pretty disastrous but now? Not so.
The gamble may not pay off but we'll not know until later this year.

| Quote: Eccleshill Rhino "What I said was get the next Craig Bellamy - and assitant with a good reputation - sometimes I wonder if you can actually read - the fact that you have not heard of them doesn't mean they are unknown without a reputation.
Most people on here would suggest that Smith is the best coach Leeds have had in recent years - he has never been a first grade coach in Australia prior to going to Huddersfield he was an assistant at the Eels - most on here would suggest he did a reasonable job and he was by no means the the most highly rated assistant coach in Australia. So would you rather have another Smith or Franny or Poching - does that spell it out in simple enough terms for you to comprehend?'"
Again, your logic is truly awful. Firstly, you don't actually know if there is anything wrong with the job our assistants are doing. Then you don't know who the next Craig Bellamy is anyway, and then you start banging on about how Smith wasn't a first grade coach in the NRL.
What on earth are you talking about?
Blah, blah, blah, blah... it's just noise - no sense at all.
We were actually originally talkiing about conditioning, soemthing our assistants have managed admirably for the last two seasons as can be seen by actual results at the business end of the season. So lets hire an Australian - you don't know who - but somebody ought to be good soemwhere. Rediculous.
Is that clear enough for you?

You obviously struggle with reading - I suggest you got back and read through the thread - my comments were about physicality and technique - the coach isn't going to sort the physicality but he might sort the technique just maybe we might not miss as many tackles and give away so many penalties which is killing the team.
You don't know whether the current assistant coaches are doing a good job either you just assume because we have won two big games at the end of the season that they are - when was the last time we finished top of the table - 2004!!!
Somebody said on this thread who would you have as the next assistant coach and I said a good assistant currently working in the NRL - you may believe that Cummins/Poching would not have a problem getting an assistants job in the NRL you are entitled to that opinion. A year ago Steven Kearney applied for the job that McClennan got - he is still an assistant at Melbourne and a WC winner that is the calibre of assistant we should be looking for not employing guys because they have played for Leeds and their career options are limited elsewhere. For me your coaching team need a breadth of experience away from the club our assistants simply do not have that - I trust this is simple enough for you to comprehend for the 4th/5th time.
