Of course there is need to discuss off field matters , the major thing at the start was Kev saying the culture at the club was poor , well this bloke has a history as long as your arm of off field discretions , he may off course be a different bloke now and i am more than hopefull he is but it is still worthy of discussion and of course only time will tell

I was once at Wigan St Pats, Longs old junior club, and Long refused to give the club £2 for admission. He was on £4k a week at Saints at the time. Said "im not paying to fund this ". From that moment ive never had any time for him. Absolute bad egg.

That was a long time ago tho and people change. He was a great player and i can see he could become a decent attack coach but hes not the type of person i would want around the club.

Fingers crossed it works out well though.

Sometimes the mistakes you make when you're younger shape who you become. And if he can stop our youngsters making similar mistakes, it's a positive

Exactly, I just took it as read to be honest that they're happy with the character he is now so anything from 10 years ago is bordering on irrelevant. Sinfield would never do it otherwise.

There are no guarantees when you employ people, but if Kev is happy that that is behind him, who are we to say different?

If he can get McLelland to do half the things Long was capable of on the field then we will have a good replacement for Gale when he finally retires.
