That's all very well, but the more likely reading of this is that Leeds just don't rate him now, and have to pay some of his contract because he'd be on more than the Bulls could pay. They are still able to hedge their bets in case he comes good, but he's played over 40 games and this is his 4th season. You'd think he'd be showing enough to be kept in the top 25 if they really thought he was going to make it.

Like I say the weirdest thing is the reasoning behind gibing him a 3 year deal, then not playing him, and now sending him off for a year at least - who made the calls and what's changed?

Very honest interview. Whatever anyone thinks of his ability and potential, the current system badly let’s players down like him not being able to play regular games at some level. The same is true of many 19s lads too.

Al the more reason to have a proper reserve competition where they can play week in week out.

A very revealing interview, thought he was going to properly unload at one point but did well to remain professional.

Cant help but feel we have completely screwed up with Jordan and his development. Time may tell but theres a good player in there, with the right environment and more importantly coaching I think we may yet see it, although maybe not with Leeds.

Good luck to the lad.

Personally, I don't think we can sustain another level of competition. I'd just scrap the u19s, and just have a reserve competition.

DR was supposed to solve all this, but since its never been implemented properly from the start its leaving a yawning gap between U19s and SL. The Championship was supposed to become the de facto reserve grade (but cheaper because SL clubs would only have to fund those players they rated) but that only made sense under a franchising system. I understand the issue with financing a reserve grade, but the current system simply isn't working.

There isn't an issue with financing a reserve grade. Every club in Super League but one wants it.

Makes you wonder doesn’t it that if the Bulls, Halifax and Keighley can run a reserve grade then it can’t cost that much. The Bulls also run 16s and 19s teams. Wigan do the same as some players don’t respond well to being farmed out on DR. Jordan Lilley certainly hasn’t.

It’s inevitable that some players will fall by the wayside but I can’t help but think the lack of an open age reserve grade is depriving players of valuable game-time and leaving some players behind. I believe that you learn most aged 18-21 and you need to be playing every week, ideally in the same team so you can build understanding of teammates and coaches get to work with you. Chopping and changing teams and coaches isn’t offering any continuity. It’s like changing a kid’s school every month.

Lilley just reported in YEP, that his contract with Rhinos's is NOT being extended beyond 2019 loan with Northern !

Leeds had a 1 year option at the end of the this year long loan and they are not taking that up

Also on Twitter he's done an interview and isnt happy he's not heard from the club directly. Seems they have gone through his agent. Also mentions he hasn't really had a great deal of contact with Leeds for the last 18 months. Writing has been on the wall for quite some time it would seem...

Poor show that by Rhinos.

The lad did you around v kiwis and took a battering for it.

Couldn't ha ve done any worse than what you have turned out this year.

If he still believes in his self the treatment he has received from your club ought to spur him on yo prove you wrong.

i liked him, but he is not good enough, he was given chances to shine but looked lost, think the hope was he would prove is value at Bradford and then go from there, but he has not set the team alight there either and struggling to get/keep in side, his complete lack of pace was always going to be a problem unless he could dominate a game as an organizer. not sure he is up to championship standard either, can see him just drifting out of the game. not everyone can make it.

why is it a poor show why has he been treated bad. They could have just off loaded him, but he was given plenty first team games to show what he can do and a season and half at Bradford to prove he is worth a contract, they have given him plenty of time, but he is not super league standard. Don't know what more they could have done to help develop him and give him time. if he had shown more at Bradford they may have extended his deal and brought him back to the new A team for a year or 2, unfortunately he is probably only league one standard or championship squad player.
