It's strange how many folk claim a team winning from 5th devalues the sport; even stranger that many of them then seem keen to devalue the WCC by scrapping the entry requirement of being SL Champions.

If I were a cynical type I might suggest that their opinions were based on their teams being found wanting on a regular basis. Good job I'm no cynic, eh?

It was never set for that date, rfl didnt want that date, it was never gonna happen because leeds utd are at home and the gate wouldnt be big enough and police wouldnt allow both games to be played same day.

Never said anything about the rfl matey, mentioned the storm wanted it played then, who i am sure wouldn't have a clue when Ledds Utd were playing!

Thought it might have been staged in Dubai or somewhere else that's warm and exotic in order to spread the RL gospel to the whole wide world and showcase that the summer rugby doctrine is where it's at.

Shame it's being played in a cold winter month in erm...Leeds.

I worked in the UAE for a year or so and took some Arab friends to an expats RU match. The finer points of the game were totally lost on them, indeed they were more interested when one of the players had his shirt torn.

So rugby over there is ok for a 7's competition once a year with fans flying out for a jolly but other than some RU vets level expat´s stuff it is a none starter IMO
