| He could be right on this one, but I don't care (and I don't think many others will either).

| Bitter little man with crap fashion sense.
... and for those that think he's right - you're wrong.
Garry Schofield has made 49 GB+England appearances.
If Adrian Morley plays tomorrow he will have made 50 GB+England appearances - thus beating Schofield.
End of story.

| Difficult to form a view IMO without first seeing the comparitive lists that make up the respective 49s.
There are always anomolies in record keeping. I was interested to read the other day that Darren Lockyer's International record total doesn't include his appearances in the '97 Australian SL tour over here.
I imagine Morley's total will include some from those same matches as IIRC he played in all 3 Tests and prompted Murray to enquire of Hetherington 'who does he play for' and was mightily relieved to hear it was 'us'.
Don't tell Schofield.

| Quote: Sal Paradise "
Typical of an individual in a team sport - more interested in his own stats. '" I thought you didn't have a problem with that? When it came to Buderus you were happy watching his individual brilliance even if the team wasn't so great?
Schoey was one of the all time greats for Leeds, GB and even in the Australian comp. To criticise him because his teams achieved very little is very hypocritical and shows you were trying to defend nothing more than a man crush on Buderus rather than rationally viewing his level of performances.

Cannot argue with this

| I'm pretty cool with the fact that Moz will surpass both Garry Schofield and Mick Sullivan's combined representative record if he plays tomorrow
Although i would love to see a breakdown of each of the players representative career and to see in which games each player earned their respective international caps before giving a final judgement
I'm pretty sure, although not certain, that Moz has played all of his representative career and in this country's elite sides fixtures each season whether that be for GB or England. We have had an England back up side in some guise but i don't think that Moz ever played for them
In the case of the old fashioned GB tours down under, did the mid week games against rep sides in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea actually count as caps?
Regarding Garry Schofield the player
IMO he along with Ellery Hanley are the finest 2 players that we have produced in my lifetime, both would walk into any International side of any era that they played in

I'm no authority but I'd be fairly confident to say no to that. Only matches played V the recognised Test teams would count towards the GB totals of Mick Sullivan and Garry Schofield.
(There again I've just read that Mick Sullivan played twice V France (1954) before they were granted Test match status in 1957 and they still count in his 46 shared GB record total.)
__________
Schofield's GB total of 46:
1984 - France, Australia (3), New Zealand
1985 - New Zealand (3)
1986 - France (2), Australia (3)
1987 - France (2)
1988 - France (2), Papua New Guinea, Australia
1990 - France (2), Papua New Guinea (2), New Zealand (3), Australia (3)
1991 - France (2), Papua New Guinea
1992 - Papua New Guinea, Australia (3), New Zealand (2), Australia
1993 - France, New Zealand (3)
1994 - France, Australia (2)
England total of 3:
1984 - Wales
1992 - Wales
1995 - Wales

| could he not of waited till after england play aus for hes dummy spit. I know morley is a complete professional and it probably wont distract him but how much of a nob does schoey have to be 3 days before the 4nations final... also what does he want morley to do? say no to the RFL we cant be england because i want to break schoey record so we have to be GB does he not realise there is no more GB team which effectively was england anyway its a poor arguement from a bitter man. the last bit is just funny this wont be last the RFL will hear from garry schoefield! who is he a rugby league super hero :S? richard lewis has gone into witness protection.

| As far as I know, no one has ever said Morley is taking any record from Schoey. Him and Mick Sullivan are still (and possibly forever will be) the GB Test Cap record holders. Morley has just made it to 50 international appearances.
So when he talks about lobbying the RFL, I don't know what about - his record still stands.

That's correct, the Aussies don't count the 4 games he played for the 'Super League' Kangaroos in '97 (3 v GB & 1 v NZ)

| schofield is bitter because he never won any signifcant silverware in his career.
It eats away at him every day and he's desperate to protect his legacy as a great player. With no medals, the record caps is all he has to cling on to. So if morley takes that, what does schofield have left?
He must question it every day. ''Of course I'm a great, i'm gary schofield'', but then the other voice in his head says ''but you've no medals garry. All the greats have plenty of medals''
''I was just unlucky I never played in a good team'' he thinks back.
Then the voice again ''But even the likes of ian kirke and john stankevitch have more medals then you, you're nothing, you barely make a dent on the record books and after all your great service to the game you've been cast adrift to scrape a living''
I'm not suprised he's bitter.
He must be insecure about his career if he's spouting about stuff like this.

| All great players and all deserve to be mentioned / recorded for all their efforts and talents, Schoey in his prime was pure class and has a right to feel dissapointed/annoyed.

| I thought he had a case as some 'England' caps have really been for a second-string side playing Wales, France etc. whilst the elite are playing for Great Britain against Australia and NZ. However, from the list provided, it seems all Morley's caps were for the genuine national side so I don't have a problem with him having the record on that score. The only anomaly is, as noted by a previous post, the status of the 1997 appearances for GB which aren't counted as test matches by Australia but seemingly are by GB.

| I don't really know what he wants to achieve out of all this. More importantly, I don't care. Records are always there to be broken and the irony is he sounds like a broken record.
