| Quote craigizzard="craigizzard"Pretty good idea. But could only see it happening at Wembley as they 1) Are desperate to hold any type of revenue-generating event there 2) Have to keep relaying the pitch anyway. It wouldn't sell out, but would sell a hell of a lot more tickets than Murryafield.
Arsenal/Tottenham etc would not allow 7 RL games to be played on their pitches during the football season. The Stoop is too small and unatmospheric. The Olympic Stadium would be an option post-2012.'"
thats a good point i hadnt considered, no premiership team would allow 7 rl games in 2 days to be played on their pitch

| I think holding it at the City of Manchester stadium would be a good call. A few problems though. Like craig said, a football club is unlikely to let 7 games of rugby be played at a crucial time in their season and holding it in Manchester is kind of getting away from the whole 'weekend away' idea that the RFL are going for. I'd say given the distances involved, only Quins, Crusaders, Catalan (if any) and maybe Hull fans will be more inclined to stay in Manchester for the whole weekend. You've then got to think about how good the attendance will be based on how likely people are to go on the day that their team isn't playing if they're not making a weekend of it.

| Quote Inflatable_Armadillo="Inflatable_Armadillo"This presents some of the same problems having it Edinburgh in May does. Hotels in Edinburgh are probably more expensive than in London in May I suspect, as there are less beds available, but July & August in London is peak tourist season and weekend hotel beds are very expensive. Plus, you are now less than 8 weeks away from the Challenge Cup in London at the end of August.
Cardiff worked to some extent because it was cheaper than either Edinburgh or London, the stadium has a roof, weather good, keep it open, weather bad, close it.'"
London in May leaves two venues IMO and that is Wembley & Twickers. Now having gone to Twickers for the CC Final a few year back, it was an impressive stadium in the right location, plently of boozers, shops locally etc, just a shame about the leg room. I've never been to Wembley, but i hear it has many draw backs, more than Twickers.
If we had it at Twickers we could throw in a Skolars game at the stoop, cheap entry and increase their publicity too!

| Does anyone know the amount that Edinburgh pays to have the magic weekend there? because i dont think london would pay to have it, so that lost revenue would have to be made up somewhere, either financially in more tickets sold/more expensve tickets, or in other ways, like greater exposure for the game in general, more people in london/south east becoiming involved in the sport in some manner, but im guessing that richard lewis cant balance the books with subjectivity < insert melbourne storm joke >.

Wembley is actually ok now. The sightlines are excellent, the legroom good, and Wembley Park station has been completely revamped making it a lot easier to get to and from (certainly easier than Twickenham). The bars and still poor and playing surface obviously not good, but it's a much improved stadium from when it shut down.
Anyway, you'll see in a couple of months

I would give it 5mins before the Sky "comedy" double act talk about they "..expect to increase in size every year"

| Why not Cardiff?
It's proven to host Rugby League Games at the Millenium before, cracking stadium also. Plenty of pubs in and around Cardiff!

| Like I said in one of my other posts I think Newcastle St James would be great. Lots of cheap enough places to stay in and around. Ground not massive but big enough to look full. Excellent pubs, restaurants all close to ground/in the centre. Not as bog a hike as Edinburgh or Cardiff or Ireland as the RFL were once on about I believe.
