the weather was ok last weekend in Perpignan and it is forecast to be good this weekend also - about 20C and sunny tho' watch out for the sea breezes which can be nippy - we are Catalans fans going down for the Bulls match - Collioure is a great place but you need to avoid it in the summer months when the place is heaving with french tourists

Couldn't help but laugh on Monday at Collioure. All the locals/french tourists were wandering round in coats and scarfs, all the Rhinos fans were in t-shirts soaking up the sun

Went to Collioure on a cold February day in 96 courtesy of "El Barbudo's Days Out" tours and spent a very happy afternoon in a small restaurant (when I say small I mean it had three tables) drinking several bottles of wine and ripping the heads of prawns.

About a year later I'm visiting one of my bro-in-laws in Tynemouth and I go to take a leak upstairs, while I'm stood there at his toilet I gaze around the bathroom as you do and there is a picture on the wall of somewhere that I recognise, its a random photo that his wife has torn out of a magazine and framed because she liked the view and I stand there taking a leak and staring at the picture wondering why its so familiar.

Then I realise, its the harbour wall at Collioure and I shout to no-one in particular "I've been there" and I point - which is a mistake for I momentarily lose control of the liquid waste evacuation pipe and some of it splashes on his floor.

When I go back downstairs I tell them all about Collioure and how they must visit it and they are pleased because to them its just a nice picture and they agree that they must visit next summer when they are camping in the south of France, "oh by the way" I add as an afterthought, "I p[iiss[/ied on your carpet"

We have been to Collioure many times and in my opinion it is the finest coastal resort in Europe.
We usually go in the Summer and you are right it is packed. If you arrive after 9am then you will struggle to find a spot to park.
We aim to get there again this summer because it is so nice.

a few miles along the coast is Port Vendres which is also a nice resort,smaller than Collioure but worth a few hours of your time - try to avoid Collioure on the 4th july which is the next televised Sky match,last moday (matchday) lunchtime we bumped into the Sky team including Stevo who was causing mayhem in a local bar ! my missus was happy tho' cos she had her photo taken with Carney (ugly git) we then bumped into Stevo again later that night propping up a bar in Perpignan !

Nope, go with my husband............unless he calls himself Dawn when he goes out by himself!!!!!! Yikes!

We bumped into Stevo a couple of times during the night, boring everyone with his stories about himself. Also bumped into Barrie (he was on the club trip) and he was absolutely plastered by the end of the night

The one on the north outskirts of the city centre, not far from the college/university.
Diagonally across from a large "square" with small fountains in it, outside a department store (HTH)

That'll be the one opposite the Fnac then ....
