"The Golden Generation finally has its Golden Fleece! They have Wembley Cup Final winners medals to add to their collection."
23/08/2014: |
|
| Quote: Juan Cornetto "BJB was one of several for Leeds that were ineffective but why pick him out before others? He was selected on merit having played well in previous games and has a high try to game ratio. He was not at fault for any of their tries and was given no opportunities on attack. You may recall Briscoe in his last game made some errors including a bad defensive one which let in a try. I favour picking the man in form and while at Leeds that should include BJB. No doubt Briscoe will be back against Hull.
Wigan's enthusiastic defence snuffed out Sutcliffe for all the game and Hardaker and Hall for most of the game so BJB was in good company. He did make a good supporting run which could have won us the game had McGuire passed to him.'"
Not so much saying he's at fault for anything or the lost. But using his good performances against weaker teams was always a false dawn. A hat trick against London in pre season which so many loved should've been put into context.of the opposition.

Leeds fans still waffling on about something that happened seasons ago involving a player that doesn't even play for us anymore.
Yeah not quite but nice try.

I picked him out because it appears to me in recent games that the wingers are on a rotation to keep everyone happy.I may be wrong about this, just how I see it and I believe BJB is not on the level of Hall and Briscoe, so now we know he is leaving we should be able, for the most part to leave him in reserve to cover injuries.just my opinion of course.
for the record I think BJB is a fantastic utility back in his own right and is a great player for us to still be able to call upon should injuries occur.my opinions on him have remained the same, leaving us or not he is clearly 3rd best winger and the 2nd best full back at the club.

yeh, almost as embarrassing as the time Andy Farrell got picked ahead of a certain Mr Lockyer the week before being humiliated in 40 minutes at elland road.

| This is a very silly thread but let's deal with the facts. Wigan did a Leeds on Leeds. John Bateman owned Bailey and actually embarrassed. Nobody playing in Super a League should ever be awarded the Golden Boot.

You do know that the golden boot isn't handed out by SL/RFL/ERL don't you?
Obviously not.

| You have to admire the coach with a "win by any means necessary" mentality. Leeds don't have a coach with that mentality, neither does any other team in SL that I can think of, but Wigan obviously do and fair play to him. He knew his 'injury ravaged, filled with youngsters' side con't compete in the traditional sense so employed a slightly left-field set of tactics. This paid dividends and got him the win.
Funny though, I never heard any mention of Leeds' injured players or having to backfill with youngsters. Maybe they just forgot.

OK then.

I agree.
Quote: jonh " John Bateman owned Bailey and actually embarrassed. '"
Entirely disagree. Unless by "owned" you mean "rolled around with a bit." Bateman didn't cause the cut by any means that I can see on the replay. I don't think a blow was landed in the exchange full stop. See other thread. 0-0. Both sin-binned for being silly little boys. I'm a bit embarrassed for anyone who thinks that was a fight, let alone one in which somebody could get "owned." Unless someone made a particularl;y witty and cutting joke at someone else's expense.. Seems unlikely.
Quote: jonh " Nobody playing in Super a League should ever be awarded the Golden Boot.'"
I wouldn't want to say no SL player could ever be the best player in the world. But the golden boot's just a PR exercise, so who cares really.

| With regard to the PTB, Leeds were dominated and pushed backwards onto their backs which usually allows the defending team more time to get off. Leeds on the other hand didn't push back and allowed the wigan players to fall forward thus allowing them a quicker PTB.
Leeds main problem was that the line stopped an waited for the attackers to come to them, Wigan didn't.

I think the Coach and his team will have learned a lot from the experience on Saturday, i think that came over in his quotes.
I am really looking forward to the next time the 2 sides meet.
