| Hetherington wont be held to ransom but I cant see him allowing Walker to leave. Hes an outstanding talent. Really exciting for the future but hes still a kid.
It wasnt perfect last night but we showed some guts to win it. Thought Ward was strong, Moon was classy as always, Mullally doesnt get long enough most weeks but gave us real impact and Lilley had some really good moments.
Were not a good team but we are 2nd and that will do for me.

| Wrt to Walker I suppose it's how many brown paper bags Warrington throw at him. For all their capturing of good young players they still lack making them important first team players. Patton has come through but Brown was brought in and preferred when fit. Their response to this season will probably be to throw money around buying experienced players and binning the younger academy guys they have in their squad.

| I thought that was a good game to watch. Far better control of the ball than last week which meant we could build pressure. We look very disorganised though, and pretty much clueless in attack on opposition red zone, just side to side hoping someone will find a bit of magic and get through...thankfully we had Moon to create that on the night who i thought was superb. also showed the value of having a player with a top notch short kicking game, and Lilley provided that last night, his kicks were crucial to repeat sets that enabled us to break Saints down.
With the injuries, although i prefer Moon at Centre, i would keep him in the halves with Lilley and move Ablett to centre we have enough back row cover and he is solid there. And finally, if GH has any sense at all he will processing a long term deal right now for Walker and getting it pushed through ASAP no excuse to let this lad slip through our fingers who is clearly going to be a star in SL.

Personally, think he has shown enough raw talent for GH to break usual protocol and give him a lucrative long term deal despite his tender years.

| I agree with the post from earlier around Saints seeming to make yards really easily coming away from there line. I thought Saints forwards just looked so much bigger than ours, and if they had a better attack I think we could have struggled to win the game.
On the plus side though as so many have mentioned Jack Walker looks an absolute star in the making. The kids just oozes class.

I agree 100%
The club cannot allow Jack to move elsewhere. He is certainly a special talent and is wanted by numerous SL clubs.
Gary has to give him the going rate for such special players or else he will be gone

The thing is that going rate probably went up. Really had Leeds just offered a decent contract in the first place, I would doubt there would be an issue. But on the other side, it isn't just money with these players. I know fans like to think it is as black & white as that, but it isn't.

People are obsessed with Warrington and make rumours to suit. Warrington have not made Jack the biggest offer in terms of money, but I doubt money alone will influence his signature.

What is it going to be then with Jack other than the money? i mean, he is at his local club whom there are no bigger in SL and it looks like he will get an opportunity to make a real claim for a first team shirt soon enough. He is 17 and living with mum and dad i assume, has a good 15/20 years ahead of him so why would he want to go to say, Warrington right now for any other reason but more money? I get why players want to move when they are established for other reasons perhaps but not at that age, not at all.

He doesn't live with his mum and dad. He lives with his girlfriend at her parents.
I will say one thing about Warringtons's offer and you make your own opinion. When he he went over there they had six different staff membersl giving presentations to him on what each of them will do to enhance and benefit his game. They laid out the red carpet. At Leeds they do nothing on individual development, and only team development. I repeat what I said previously, Warringtons offer, is better than Leeds current one, but not as good as others in monetary terms.
You were spot on though with been a Leeds fan.

| A game lacking creativity, save for Moon’s sublime skills to put Hall over. Stand out performances were Walker, who has done nothing but impress me from first seeing him; Mullally, who destroyed every vegan stereotype in one superb game; & Child, who was almost faultless, despite cramping up or pulling a calf muscle near the end.
I don’t get the praise for Lilley however, a very average C1 or C2 level SH.

I can understand Jack Walker's concerns regarding his individual development going forward.
I can't understand why a club like ours couldn't have a Garry Schofield or Iestyn Harris employed as a skills coach responsible for individual coaching

| I hate to say this but there's something about Golding I'm not completely sold on. I think his defence is really good for his age but attacking he offers nothing. Even running away from his line he looks lightweight and like he has a lack of balance.
Where as walker, 3 years younger, has that extra 10% speed and involved himself in attack chiming into the line, something golding doesn't do well.
With briscoe being so poor this season, I wonder how things would pan out with Golding on the Wing next year and walker at fullback. Golding is good defensively (which briscoe is not) and he could learn to find the try line. Which briscoe isn't particularly doing this year anyway.
And walker could have a chance to develop his game at fullback (where he offers more than Golding). If it gets to much for a young walker then we could switch Golding and walker throughout the season. Taking a bit of pressure off each other whilst both still getting game time.
1 walker
2 Golding
3 Watkins
4 moon/sutcliffe/keinhorst
5 hall
6 myler
7 Lilly/sutcliffe/moon
I've just re watched the second half and Lilly's kicking was very good, finding touch when under pressure, earning a repeat set to keep pressure building, leading to a cross field kick for Watkins try on top of the offload for wards try. I don't think you could ask for too much more from a 20 year old half back making his first starting appearance of the year.

Absolutely bang on, and that is the difference for a lot of younger players. Go to the union side though, and they have an abundance of coaches in different skills.
