If Leeds' premier loose (Ryan Bailey) isn't on the list then I'd question their commitment.

While Sinfield retained squad number 13 at Leeds in 2012 I presume even the Wigan fans noticed he played at stand-off for the entirety of last season both domestically and Internationally?

Forwards rarely win this particlar award and Sinfield was smart enough to realise that switching positions was a requirement to achieve overdue world wide recognition coincidentally with the absence of a credible International programme this year.

The only good thing that I see from this sort of random awards thingy is that when their own players don't win anything it annoys the hell out of Wigan supporters, and Australians.

For that alone, this is a good thing.

Wiganers & Aussies must be the most well-balanced folk on earth, they have a chip on both shoulders.

Looks like a lot of pies, loiners my dads bigger than yours posting.
Well from a Wakey fan well done Sinfield.
He deserves a life time award in recognition of what he has done for his club.

Golden boot player of the year
If it went on individual flair over the season then Tomkins would not win it as good as he can be at times.
It should go to the most consistant player over the whole season who does the most for his club well it would come down to one player Cameron Smith though Sinfield would be very close its just that Smith did it all season long for me.
O`Loughlin I like as a player but 10 times better well thats miles out given the choice as to who I would go for if I wanted them in my team Sinfield would win hands down.
Lets not forget this was a judgement by a panel and not one person`s thoughts so I will say again as much as it pains me hes a Leeds player "Well done Kevin"

I put on Twitter (a bit more succinctly) that Sinfield may not be the "best" when put against the others but he is perhaps the most influential and committed player around right now and fully deserves this IMO. The fact that Aussies are chelping about it makes it even better.

Would love a similar style of player in black and white.

Can't say this is my experience, most of the ones I've met have been absolutely sound with a real passion for the game.

However, there seems to be a hardcore of internet posters - no need to name them - who merely attract ridicule to their club.

Great news and very well deserved. This sort of recognition is long overdue for Kevin who has been consistently outstanding both as a player, a goal kicker and a captain. As three times captain of the World Club Champion side he has had a major influence on the results of these wins as he has in so many other big games over the years.

It is a shame so many spectators have such a shallow understanding of the game in that they can only appreciate the obvious individual brilliant moments that players like Tomkins produce. These are the sort that would pick a Man of the Match because he scores a hat trick of easy tries and fail to notice the unsung creative player that set them up.

Sinfield is an old style player like John Holmes who has that rare ability to make other players look good by creating and putting them into space not just for a few moments in a game but consistently for the whole match. Whether with hand or foot he is directing operations at the very heart of the team. His influence is immense and his motivational abilities have been proven even to his doubters with the historic playoff results over the last two years when most had written off the Leeds side.

He has been one of the most influencial players in the game for many years and should have won the Man of Steel award at least once. Yes there are some other excellent players who could have be chosen but I doubt they have been more influential than Kevin so yes I do think he can be considered Best in the World.

As a Wigan fan for sheer consistency over the last few years you have to hand it to him as recognition of his achievements.
You can guarantee that those griping have only been watching since we had our cup run and wouldn't remember our bad days before that.
Everyone has their own opinions but the biggest gripes are the Aussies who think they control the game fully. Ie we don't want internationals (except against NZ) we will dictate on the rules etc.
This is the shot in the arm that English RL needs . I may only see him a couple of times a year when we play Leeds, but he killed us last year more than once, and you don't always get the full picture when watching tv but there are plenty of our fans who do appreciate good players from any club.
Congratulations KS
