Smith could be a one of those kids who was so much bigger than his peer group that he looked better than he actually is. If you see him now he actually looks average size if a little small for a modern SL forward?

Ryan Bailey was the biggest disappointment, having seen him stroll through opposition defences as a teenager.

He looked the real deal in the first couple of years in the first team as well to be fair. He never managed maintain that level though.

Hit some decent form when Mac first got here and played him at 13. Got back into the England squad iirc.

Was solid for the rest of his time here.

Not saying your wrong, Bailey definitely didn't reach his potential, but I bet there's a lot of 'next big thing's' who wish they could have a career as long and solid as his.

Whilst I'd prefer it if Cameron Smith becomes a megastar with Leeds, part of me would be amused if the brightest star in the youth system since the game started turned out to be a flop. The wailing and gnashing of teeth on here about juniors is ridiculous, as are the generally massively overblown views of their ability.

I haven't seen much of Smith except for a few highlights of Academy games. TBH my main memory is that he looked a bit fat.

Often the case that big kids never need to develop the subtle skills as their physique makes them standout players in junior rugby. Shame there is no room in the modern game for little players who often are the better rugby players. Perhaps this accent on size is why the game has a lack of quality at half back as the little ones are not encouraged enough.

As a junior he was a stand out second row forward - sadly he never got a real chance to play that role once he moved up to the seniors
