I'd agree with this - although it could also be argued that their first real test (ie in a knockout situation against a top side) was against us in the CC. When they were found wanting.

yet according to Clarkey it was the performance of the season from the perennially successful Saints to even be able to live with the perennially unsuccessful Wigan, let alone manage to beat them.
Great game though.

To be fair, I think it was our performance of the season in the circumstances, Leeds at home a close second (in similar circumstances!)

I was surprised to see them take the two early against the Saints to open their account yesterday. In those conditions it was unlikely to be a low scoring game (as opposed to the Headingley encounter you mention, where that could well be the conditions on GF night) When teams opt to take the two in that circumstance I see it as a lack of confidence and a lift to the defending team.

I think they lost it there. The lift to the Saints team and fans was immense, showed a real lack of confidence in the Wigan side, like they did against you in the CC (conditions may have played a part in that though)

On a more serious note I’ve been impressed with Saints in their wins against Leeds and Wigan this year. The way your players have executed Potters game plan in both them games were world class.
Wigan have a lack of leadership I feel. How many captain do their have again?
We were without our best player and best leader. No wonder.

Are Wigan in danger of becoming a one-man team?
St Helens don't appear to be on last night's showing.

how you can look at the Wigan team and suggest that is beyond me. Quality all over the place.
If Leeds lost a tight game against Bradford without Peacock, I'm sure Leeds fans would say that if they had Peacock we woud have won.

I wasn't aware I was suggesting anything when asking that question that seemed to follow on from your earlier comment.
Anyone looking at the two sides selected yesterday would be able to see which team was weakened the most. I doubt many (outside of the DW Stadium) would conclude that it was Wigan.
Despite that Wigan were rarely in the hunt.
On that evidence, this season looks like ending the same as the recent others have, which is hardly surprising given the squad is largely the same. Unless you're going to let the last 10 minutes fool you in to believing otherwise.
