| Quote: D4mo78 "Can't believe Kev is getting blamed for the state of the team. Fair enough performances haven't improved but the quality in the squad isn't there and he's said it. He always said he didn't want to coach, but stepped in when the club was desperate. Next year he's in an entirely different role which most of us think he'll excel in. As for keeping Ablett, JJB and Delaney lets see what comes out. The squad will be without Galloway, Ormondroyd, Jordan-Roberts, Keinhorst, maybe Mullally and Walters. If they're on short contracts as squad fillers it might not be that bad. But it all depends on who comes in. I just hope that the club isn't planning just for next year, but there's a 3, 4, 5 year plan for getting back to the top. And they learn the lesson not to sit back and bask in the glory of success, there always needs to be this plan in place'"
We used to have a firm 2 ,3,4 year plan but GH & co went away from thst Blueprint.

| There a host of very basic things that Sinfield, Furner need to address for next season.
This year we have not looked fit, we now 4 months with nobody playing test football. Pre- season should be the hardest ever.
We have nobody who looks comfortable kicking goals. we need to sign a proper goal kicker.
We have lost 5 games by 1 point and have nobody who can drop a goal, we need to sign one or Myler and others should be practising for at least 1 hour a day for the next 4 months. It's pathetic. I grew up watching John Holmes who could drop goals with his wrong foot and practised and was part time.
We need a player who can organise and tell the numpties what to do
We need some forwards who can break the line and are tough.
I have seen teams with worse players in but have never been so bored and seen so little decent rugby played. Even the e in the early 80's did put in some games where there was some good football played.
I have become angry watching this 1 man out and a crap kick rubbish.

| Quote: Brodie123 "An absolute disgraceful performance and Sinfield has to take some of the blame, we have gone backwards since he became director of coaching and he either needs to buck up with his ideas or he needs to go. McDermott was spineless he just dare not say anything to Hetherington, so he carried the can for Hertheringtons recruitment policy. Shocking to say the least. There is no cull this year, in the Legends suite tonight Ablett all but said he has had an offer of a contract. Delaney has had an offer so has JJb, what are we doing giving contracts out to 30 plus something players. Tonight's team not fit enough to wear the shirt, the two forwards we picked up at the season end was terrible, We have no pack our forwards are bust, none of them played well in fact the whole team was terrible. The blame is now at Sinfields door and if he does not improve the team for next season then we will be calling for his head. Even the manager in the suite said how can they spend money on players when they have this huge debt, even the tea lady knows the problems. What a farce'"
Totally agree Sinfield hasn't the experience to sort out these problems - he is too close to the players. He might have the greatest of desires to resolve the issues but he will find it impossible with his ex-buddies. The old timers need thanking for their past efforts and informing that they are not part of the future, if Sinny can't do that then he is not the right person for the job. I only hope Furner is a true magician as it will take miracles for this rabble (team is an inappropriate noun) to become a top 5 contender. Thompson and Crosby are not SL standard, same can be said for Peteru and Mullally. Then we come to Ferres, what a leader? He has no leadership qualities whatsoever! Another one who needs showing the exit door. Worst season ever. We might have a nice new ground to look forward to but I go there to watch a game contested by committed players. The current rabble don't have any desire to become winners they are just happy to pick up their pay cheques.

| Best possible result and performance in some ways. I hope the management's eyes are fully open now. Truth told, some recent post-match comments that have put a positive slant on some very, very mediocre performances by various individuals have worried me deeply.

| Looking from the outside in at last night performance it really is hard to understand how little the last coach invested in Leeds future . If you set up a proper reserves you would have the benefits coming through in 2 to 3 years time. Now unfortunately it will all be about buying in some quality at no doubt a massive premium. Invest for tomorrow though has to be the long term solution and bring another crop of Sinfield McGuire burrow etc through. Sutcliffe just frustrates the hell out of me how the hell can you be full time and kick goals like that or rather don't kick goals just practice 2 hrs a day, how hard can it be he is getting paid to do it.

| Quote: christopher "What do you mean no time for favours? Sinfield hasn’t yet had chance to do what the club employed him to do as we were in a relegation scrap, we have fortunately got through that, now let him get on with what he has actually been employed to do.
Lets look at the positives, we actually have a great crop of youngsters coming through and that needs managing properly both Furner and Sinfield have been around this club when that was happening before and they both know what it takes to turn that into a championship winning club.'"
That's the problem we don't want to be in the Championship!!
Sir Kevin Sinfield, great skipper but hasn't got the credentials to sort this mess out.

Hope you are right, he has played 71 games and kicked 65 goals which sounds to me like a fill-in kicker, but time will tell.

| Quote: Sal Paradise "It will be interesting to see the stats - I watched JJB last night and he only made 4 tackles the whole night where he was the first person in the tackle. No doubt he will awarded a tackle count of 30+ which highlights the issues people have with his contribution and the picture the stats display'"
So are you saying if a tackler in not first in his contribution is diminished?
In the modern game defending the middle part of the field usually needs 2 or 3 forwards to stop the oppositions big men and bring them down. So with respect Sal you should be counting the number of effective tackles the players make and the number they miss.
Having said that throughout his career JJB has usually led our defensive line with a high tackle count including marker tackles which show more often than not that he was first or second in at the previous tackle.
He must have played more than 70 minutes last night and I expect the stats will show he once again had a high effective tackle count. My recollections of his performance were that he was often in the marker position indicating he was first or second in at the last tackle I agree with Gotcha's assessment that last night JJB was our best forward with a high work rate and of course never gave up.

Totally agree. Leeds being too tight to run a reserve side makes trying to bring players through very difficult. I may be wrong but think hull have also run this year with no reserve side, both have been woeful for months

He has been in the role (and normt the one he has been emplyed to do!) for 3 months he has dome the job of keeping us up now lets see how he goes, this was never a quick fix appointment if were scrapping around at the bottom in 2 years it will be a different matter
Are the same people calling for his head the same that called for mcdermotts head in 2011?

| Quote: The Magic Rat "Tough job ahead for Sinfield. As he said it's ok getting rid of a load of players but if the ones coming in are not much better, we are still going to struggle. The last thing we need is 3 year contracts given to players who are not up to the job. He obviously couldn't say to the press everything he wanted to but you can't just get rid of players under contract.
JJB is coming to the end of a great career and been out of contract is easy to release, but if all the players on display last night were out of contract im sure there were others Sinfield would release before JJB.'"
I agree with you and I fail to understand why the main talk is to first get rid of three of our most experienced players whose work rate and enthusiasm has not diminished. Yes JJB, Ablett and Delaney are past their best but as squad members, perhaps with less playing minutes, they still have a part to play and perform better than the likes of Ferres, Thompson and Peteru who is now being played as a second rower. Ward is injured for more time than not and Cam Smith is he only youngster ready for more minutes so even with new recruits we need experienced squad men to rotate.
IMO opinion our main problem is up front and we should start with at least 2 maybe 3 props as our ageing back rowers too often have to do the work of the front rowers. This does not mean we should not recruit a big fast hard running back rower if we can.

I really don’t think it is just a coincidence things really to pot since Ferres arrived. Not fully that, but I am sure a factor.
