Furner was just simply non committal. Nothing wrong with that. He doesn’t know what condition Merrin will arrive back in, so why put pressure on to state he will play.

Still a strange response given all the rumours, aussie press reports etc. Surely he couldve have been non committal in a “Hes on his way back and will hopefully be ready for HKR” kind of way? Especially after Hetheringtons come out in the press saying he’ll be back Saturday. Its just village, in my opinion.

That's what I was thinking, it's a long flight back and expecting a guy to be mentally and physically ready to play an intense game, like 48 hours later is asking a lot, Merrin may put his hand up and say he is ready to play, I recently returned from a 16 hour flight(s) and could hardly get my work shoes on the day after, took full 24 hours before lower legs where back to normal, I am a bit older and not a proffestional athlete but he will still suffer a bit, never mind getting nutrition right for a game of RL. Why risk him.

It’s a must win game, we played Friday then again on Monday. If Merrin is back he should play IMO.
