Sinfield's statement refers to opportunities for a "life after rugby", so I wouldn't expect to see him stay within the sport in an administrative capacity.
As for timing, it could be that these opportunities have a narrow window and it was either now or never. Can't see that Carnegie would be pushing him out the door, given he's been one of their better players in the second half of the season.

As Sal said on the other page he has been pretty much on the go since Nov 2014. I always thought it'd be tough at his age to pretty much jump into a RU season just weeks after SL ended without a significant break. After 20 years without really any lengthy injury absences his body must be crying out for a rest.
Maybe he's seen Leeds' struggles and he wants to come back and help (in a non playing role) fingers crossed.

6 months at Leeds under McD then in the hot seat for next season with McD moving upstairs.
That was always the plan, it's just happened a year earlier than planned.

Still subject to planning permission I believe , The stadium is going to undergo a massive rebuild so maybe GH feels he will be very busy and needs a bit of assistance
