Poor deal though. For all he's done in the past right now it's a waste of cap space and shouldn't be in the 17 as it stands.'"
Definitely. Disappointing by my standards I agree, but they can't be right every time can they?
I agree with you statement also.

| To be fair as mentioned in the article, The Cas rumour has been going round for ages.
Im not quite sure how to react on this news.On one hand Burrow has been a great servant for us no doubt and deserves respect, still has plenty to offer over the next few years too but im not sure i really want to see him selected for long minutes in the hooking role anymore as we are far stronger as a unit when Aiton is there.Thankfully Mac has gone with this so far this year and used Rob sparingly from the bench, his best role now imo, but whether this will continue now after this news who knows which is a bit of a worry.Personally i was hoping for Mcguire to sign this deal rather than Burrow which i never thought i would be saying this time last year.

| A bit underwhelmed by this one. Aside from bombing both of what could've been the best 2 tries in SL this year I can't remember him doing much when he's been on the pitch. The try at Hull was special actually.
Great servant who's already an all time Leeds legend but I can't see what he offers anymore.

it depends on what other recruitment can be achieved. If you are going into the season with Aiton as the recognised hooker and McGuire /Sutcliffe as the recognised halves then a backup of Rob Burrow is not a bad option whilst bringing through younger options. I am assuming he has signed this contract recognising that he will be a bit part player and has decided that that is better with the current potential Leeds team than going to Cas.

| Two years for a player who is already a declining force, playing reduced minutes and disrupts our defensive structure every time he's on the field.
Heart ruling head from Mr Hetherington here.
If I were Robbie Ward's agent I'd be shopping him around now to see if anyone else is willing to make an offer.

It depends on what is being said. The signing of Buderus was, according to some, to allow McShane and Hood develop, both players had the opportunity but spurned it. I am assuming that the plan for Ward is to develop him, with some game time and then dual reg /loan him to another team to see if his potential is worth persisting with, with a view to having him in the team in 3/4 years.

I don't know if someone said that, but when the rumours came out I actually posted that I had spoken to someone high up at Cas who had said the rumours were rubbish and they have heard no such thing of having happened.

| I got called a muppet on a post around Easter time which stated he was going to cas, I laughed then and said it was never ever going to happen, I'm still right!
N for the people that are saying he doesn't deserve it or it's bad business, you're talking out your backside! Losing to men that have been around that dressing room for so many years, the last thing you want is another, it's smart, it's clever it gives the youth plenty of experience still to draw on when needed, he still has ability to change a game too, just because he's not the burrow of previous years it doesn't mean it can't do a good job, look at how he played 2nd half of hull game for example. Too many people on here have their favourites, then too many jump on the band wagon, when realistically your full of crap!

| I think with SInfield and Peacock leaving losing another of the 10+ years service lot would probably have a big impact. I would have given a 1 year rolling deal, but I would guess that the 2 years would indicate a move into the backroom staff.
For me, whilst Burrow has been quiet this year, thats partly because his game time has been restricted. He made a very good impact in the game away at Hull for example, but he usually getting 25mins max to make an impact

| Isn't Burrow a highly rated young coach? Perhaps, the club wanted to get him signed up to ensure they would have the best chance of getting him on the coaching staff when he finishes playing?
A lot of the comments seem to be based on the assumption that we'll sign a half back, but if we do go into the season next year with only Sutcliffe and McGuire then having Burrow in the squad as cover would be very sensible.
Regarding Robbie Ward, he'll be 22(?) by the time Burrow retires, and is still part time so I think it's a tad early to be suggesting that he'll be peeved by this.

| Would this mean mooted move for Ryan Brierley at points in the past looks less likely, given that he is 23 now?

We are def signing that dross from hull at hooker, we are, yes we are.
Burrow was never leaving. Glad they have given him two years as well. Smart move all-around.

| Seems a sensible move to me. Losing Sinfield & Peacock is more than enough for the club to deal with in one season. Keeping the other leaders such as McGuire, Burrow, JJB etc is a must for another couple of years.
As mentioned, 1 injury to either McGuire or Sutcliffe and you've got an excellent backup there in Burrow. Same goes for Aiton at hooker.

In those 3 cases (Mcguire, sutcliffe, aiton) we have better backup in halves/hooker in the shape of Sinfield rather than Burrow. But come 2016 we won't. so not a bad idea to retain Rob's services for 2016. wouldn't be overly surprised if he made way mid contract though.
