| This is just my opinion and it would be the same no matter who finishes top and who wins gf. I like the concept of having the top 8 teams compete for a trophy at the end of the regular season but i still feel that the league leaders sheild should mean more.

| the last time Leeds won the LLS it was a away game at Salford they got presented there and posed for a few pics ,a few mutes waves to us travelling fans and then walked off.
Bluey said" weve only got the lid now we want the rest of the trophy".Warrington had a big celebration on field in front of their own fans and I'm surprised Tony Smith allowed that

Well, I agree with you there. It should be treated with more respect than it is. However, it's not the major trophy so should be viewed with less than winning the Grand Final.

How much it means isn't a policy decision. If it means more to you, then celebrate it more if/when whoever you support wins it. If there are Wire supporters who started the season believing that the LLS was the main prize to go for, then they presumably feel very happy with the way the season went.
Similarly, if you want to acclaim them more, go ahead. Nobody is stopping you.
The Grand Final crowd says yours isn't the majority view. It is the GF winners who get to call themselves "champions" officially, and Wire knew that when the season kicked off. It's the way RL traditionally crowns it's champions.

| here are of course Clubs like Warrington who have had opportunties to win the GF from 5th position in the not so distant paths and if they had succeeded they would have proudly called themselves champs

| Football decides it's champions by table topping method. For the vast majority of it's history Rugby league has decided it via playoffs and a final, like many other sports.
If you can't get your head around that concept this sport might not be the right one for you.
Warrington got what they deserved from this competition, a dinner plate. When it [ireally[/i counted they couldn't beat their nearest rivals (Wigan in the cup and us in the playoffs). Hardly the material of champions. Because they put up cricket scores against Salford and Harlequins in the qualifiers means nothing.

What a disappointing comment.
Firstly the OP said he was a new poster, not a new fan.
And if they are a new fan, comments like yours will not encourage him to stick with the sport. Its no wonder our great sport is so insular with people like you about.

I think this season warrington winning the league should get more recognition than leeds winning the gf and wigan winning the cc. Im not a wire fan and i have always felt that winning thn league shud mean more than the gf as topping the league at the end of the season means that you have been the best team all year. As i said this is just my opinion and im not having a dig at anyone. Just wonderd what you all thought.'"
Why are you directing this policy specifically at this season rather than all the others?

| There have been plenty of seasons where the hub cap winners haven't lifted the title, was never a issue then.

Firstly this year is no different from other years so therefore I do not think Warrington should get any more recognition tha previous table toppers.
Secondly Warrington were not the best team all year as they failed in the most important part of the year ie; the playoffs which was the equivalent of losing in the Cup semi final. They failed to get to the GF despite having had the table toppers advantages.
Thirdly Warrington did not get to the Cup Final this year. Whereas Leeds apart from being 2011 Superleague Champions came very close to doing the double which in my book qualifies them as the best team this year.
Fourthly all the Clubs, supporters, players and coaches know the playoff system and it has been accepted for many years that the coaches job is to prepare the team for "the business end of the season" and not to peak too soon. I can honestly say that Leeds did not peak too soon
And lastly it has to be said that St Helens once again are the 2nd best team as despite serious injuries (like Leeds) they prepared once again and reached the Grand Final.
It is the fact that it is so difficult to win that makes the Champions Trophy every clubs main aim.
Having said all of this I give full credit to the Warrington team and coaches who produced the most entertaing rugby over the full season. Now they have to get mentally tough!

| I have not said that wire deserve more credit than previous table toppers and im not basing my opinion on this season because its warrington. Ive had this opinion for as long as ive been a fan of rugby league. Also its the rl who should make winning the league more important in my opinion and i understand that fans of each club will have their own opinions on what means the most to them.
