Quote: McLaren_Field "Pffft!

Nothing can compare to the cowboy who used to hang around the Arndale Centre in Headingley in full "Woody from Toy Story" gear and a horse, he even had replica Colt 45's that fired blanks but was more famous for his bullwhip that he'd crack an inch from your ear until he got arrested.

Remember that one d040.gif

IN my dim and distant past IIRC Woodbine Liz standing outside the Whip Inn abd hurling abuse and threats at passers by and more recently Mad John often seen pushing random wheelie bins up Kirkstall Road

Was a bloke knocked around Meanwood / Headingley, he had bottle bottom glasses & went everywhere with a carrier bag full of crap he'd aquired throughout the day, his hands were bandaged up boxer style, he sometimes used to end up in my local, when he eventually called a cab & they asked who it was for he'd reply Jack Dempsey, Sugar Ray, Roberto Duran etc, as soon as he picked the phone up everyone was throwing their quids in for the sweep on who he was that night.

Guitar Chris, the charity dude thats forever around the Dock and I also see this homeless guy and his dog outside Stone Roses bar when I go past. Every Saturday. Never spoken to him but he seems popular with the local nuts.

Will have to look next time I go. Probably on a near death Experience!

Cheers for letting us know.

Sounds like something out of a movie. I’ve seen that monk a few times mind walking about in Bramley when I was younger.

Great read BTW icon_lol.gif

Quote: DoubleAone "Remember that one
I ain't seen him around for quite a while . Certainly have not seen him with a wheelie bin . He used to have an old-lady type shopping trolley .

There was a portly , elderly gent , with a short grey beard and glasses that used to wander around Bramley .IIRC he had a (possibly) Geordie accent . Whatever the weather he could be seen around the shopping centre and Hough Lane . His favourite place appeared to be the bench outside the library .

Did he sing a lot?

If so I might of come across him on the bus last Monday. I wanted to get my video camera out and film him but that’s just bad exploitation. Plus it was best to live in the moment and enjoy this crazy Geordie guy give us all drunken wisdom.

I let him know that I wanted to take him in the BBC studios with me. Had second thoughts..

Geoffrey does speak .
Was maybe around 16 years ago when I was working at Stanningley , we used to see him almost every day . He was walking on Bradford road towards Leeds , and I was sat outside work having a brew . I asked him where he was headed . I can't remember his reply , but it lead to a 5 min chat . He seems like a very nice fella . So pleasant and humble .

Re Kirkstall John .. He used to collect aluminium drinks cans in the trolly .

When I worked in Leeds in the early seventies there was a bloke who used to sell the YEP. He stood outside the doors at the top end of Lewis's opposite Vallances, I seem to recall him still being there in the nineties. Anybody remember him?

A feller around Swarcliffe called Bod, always pished but happy nontheless, hes been around for years and even has his own facebook group icon_lol.gif

www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=3 ... 0777333..1

Not exactly the best of reasons for remembering someone, but hes well know by most people around here.

He looks a bit of an angry bugger, but he couldnt harm a fly after all the white lightning he swigs!
Didnt see him for years and was told he was dead until we saw him on the 40 bus after a rhinos game a few months ago, he was a bit annoyed because he had just spilt a full 3 litre bottle of "cider", but Im sure the bus floor needed a good bleach anyway, loves to talk about his beloved Leeds United and showing of his tatoo about them on his arm (about 10 times on the 30 minute bus ride)

We got on the bus and the bottom floor was soaked with what we assumed was pish that had been washed off with bleach because of the smell, so we went upstairs to find an empty white lightning bottle at the top. About 5 minutes later I noticed someone with a red bomber jacket on and said it looked like Bods if anyone remembered him and the fecker turned around and came and sat near us as if he knew us, even though I hadnt seen the feller for at least 6-7 years icon_eek.gif icon_lol.gif

Heard of my mate Sam boy?

He’s around the dock now and again. Tells me that there’s a regular in they who has a fringe that goes down to his chin. Is this true?

Another infamous resident is that dog that used to always sit outside Sutcliffe Joiners on Leeds Bradford road in Bramley. Is the dog still around?

Would that be the joiner's shop on Whitecote Hill at the traffic lights ?
The same one where young ladies used to hang around and rent themselves out ? They were proper dogs icon_lol.gif

You mean a particular one of the 'ladies' Damo ?

I can't remember ever noticing a dog sitting around the lights .

BTW . The 'ladies' were moved on by the police some years ago .
