| Like halfback I'd rather we wait for the right coach than rush at it. Agar's going OK but has a poor roster. One thing he needs to look at is subs. I'd have at least 2 props on the bench every game.
We really need a good start next season to enable whoever the coach is to play some of the kids.

| Quote KaeruJim="KaeruJim"I’ve been watching Agar quite closely in media interviews and he just seems to lack that little edge of confidence that the real top coaches have.
He has done a great job as interim IMO and deserves to be kept at the club. I’d even run with the current set-up if we can’t find the right candidate. I think we need someone else to take us back to the top level though.'"
Herein lies the problem for me. There is no doubting he has done a decent job of steadying the ship, but he just seems to lack that extra confidence or edge, he almost seems scarred by previous coaching roles and is happier in the background. Less pressure.
Quote KaeruJim="christopher"Were not going to be at top level til at least 2021 so if it means Agar for a year till we get rid of some players and find the right man then so be it'"
I disagree with having a coach merely hold the reigns. If we are looking to build some foundations, then better to get the right coach in now, let him get the style of play he wants ingrained into the players, and to have a hand in recruitment.
Quote KaeruJim="KaeruJim"We clearly need more structure. When the players are busted they need a shape to revert to; at the moment we’re just winging it or giving it to the big lad. Saints attack more like an NRL side; as a whole team with bodies in motion and plenty of live options to take.'"
See my previous point. Saints play with such precision and intensity they are hard to live with. When they attack, they attack as one rather than just one at a time. They flood forwards at pace and I’m numbers when they are moving the ball, making it hard to read who is the intended receiver. Defences get stretched by this. Great to watch. That’s why we have to go after a coach who can make this brand of rugby our go to style from top to bottom, so young players coming in know where they need to be, rather than just get a caretaker.

That’s all very well but is the right coach available and more importantly does he want to come to the club, that’s what I mean by not rushing the appointment, if the right coach isn’t available for next year, we should go with Agar

| Quote The Magic Rat="The Magic Rat"Agar has done a decent job imo and unless we have our 1st choice signed up ( whoever that may be) I wouldn't be too disappointed if he did another season. On the whole he has brought the team together and got them playing for each other in a way that we have not seen since McDermott left. We looked a shambles under Lowes/Sinfield and Furner and despite a few poor performances I don't see that under Agar.'" I hope we do have a coach lined up providing he's proven although I doubt it as I'm sure rumours of who he his would have surfaced by now.

Sinfield has had ample time to sort out the right Coaching staff if that means Agar stays then Sinfield deserves sacking.
There's no way Agar is better than Flannagan Griffin numerous assistents or Watson who imo would come if we approached him.
Irrespective of tye past 2yrs & the self unflicted Furner farce there'll be plenty of better options than Agar willing to take the job.
Getting a Team to gel & get the basics right with this squad should be a given thats all Agar has done.
Given that the Players didnt like Furner or his approach is purely on them & i hooe a lot of them are shown the door asap.
ST's didnt have to get out of 2nd gear last night to dismantle us then they cruisd through the last 15 minutes this Coach & a alot of this squad are nowhere near good enough.

| Quote tigertot="tigertot"That's what I mean. The difference in the quality of players on the pitch wasn't that large. If their first 17 had been out there it would have been. The quality of Saints play is very impressive. A number of their players were average under fatty Cunningham.'"
Shows what difference a good coach can make along with a couple of astute signings

Where have i claimed to?
Its pretty straight forward in what i posted KS has had plenty of time to sort it if Agar is his choice then he's made yet another bad call & should walk.
Stumbling to 8th on pts diff from bottom 2 on points diff is hardly a Coaching masterclass.

| I agree re Agar. Sinfield would be making a mistake appointing him. There's no good reason why the right man shouldn't be brought in asap once SL status is confirmed. It is not Agar, we still looked poorly coached

| Quote KaeruJim="KaeruJim"For me the assistant coaches are just as important. Agar is a decent man-manager but there needs to be something else alongside him.
I don’t have a problem with it if they get the overall team right. There’s much more input going into a side these days then just one bloke smoking woodbines with a scowl.'"
Baffling comment, quite the opposite really, throughout his career his number 1 weakness has been highlighted to be his man-management and social skills almost amongst his groups of players. He`s a tactician and he is great at it, a very intelligent man with a great knowledge of the game and study's his opposition inside out.
