| Yes they did have American football style posts.
I used to help out by either selling programmes, do scoreboard or being a ball boy (all with my Leeds shirt underneath the Hunslet tracksuit)

The old cop and the scratching shed - my dad used to stand on the south east corner - it was quite steep IIRC

Even though the old YEP is in the picture I still had to get my head around where that is!

Other than the YP the only other building that should be recognisable to anyone over the age of say 25 is the one in the top right of the photo, its an engineering company (was it Fairbairn Lawson???) which was demolished sometime in the 1990s (???) other than that there is nothing else to reference in that photo as its now under a few thousand tons of concrete
If you still haven't got it the Fairburn (???) building is now TGI Fridays and Kirkstall Road is going right and out of the top right hand corner of the photo.

When we flew to Las Vegas in Feb 1974 only part of the M62 was open and getting to Manchester Airport early in the morning would be tricky so we went the night before and stayed in a pub/hotel near the airport, it took hours going on the A62 and being diverted all over the place because of the motorway construction work AND the only part open in West Yorkshire had been closed the same week after the IRA coach bomb near to Hartshead Moor.
Eeeeeh tha dunt know tha born these days tha knos.
Las Vegas, 1974, now there's another story.

Here is a shot from another angle.
Taken in 1974 showing the Wellington Bridge Flyover under construction.
In the background are, on the left, the Yorkshire Post building built in 1970 and on the right the engineering works of Fairbairn, Lawson, Combe & Barbour Ltd., of Wellington Street.
I hope that helps further
