I am not aware of his contract details and neither are you.

| From what I’d heard Smith was a done deal and there were a few financials that needed ironing out.
Not heard anything about Buderus going back to Oz though.

FWIW I think it will be to announce Smith's return & Buderus' departure.
'"
That's my suspicion too. If it is Smith's return (and it's hard to believe it's anything else) it'll be like the return of the prodigal son. I'm delighted he's returning to league from the dark side.

Given the injuries to our backs wouldn't be suprised if he features this weekend, Thursday may come a bit too soon though.
As for where he would play in a full strength team - maybe thats jumping the gun a bit. Are we ever gonna be able to pick from strength this year?!? At the moment his experience will be more than useful in our depleted back line, if he plays well enough then he'll be playing week in week out and its up to others to get back in.
People forget his versatility too, great at full-back (his best position IMO) and more than capable across the three-quarters.
Just hope this is what the press conference is for.... not something akin the great Rhino's 2000 announcement

| I would throw him straight in. Bush did well but we all know Smith's qualities.

| There has been speculation over Blueys future also in the RL press so it might not be just about Smithy.

| Quote: Austin 3:16 "But just where would we fit Smith in? What a superb dilemma to have.'"
my thoughts - clearly we never have injuries.
Smiths versatility is a major plus , and if he can be incorporated within the cap, and should we have a fit squad, a bit of competition for places would be no bad thing.

Isn't Ali studying for the 'British' test so he can gain citizenship ?
I can't see him doing that if he is intending to leave the country .
I will get my mam to ask him to clarify .

| The announcement is Smith.
He was training with the first team at Kirkstall yesterday morning and word from the camp is that he is on the wing on Thursday.

| Couldn't be bothered reading through 9 pages so apologies as this will no doubt of been answered somewhere. But how does he fit on the salary cap as I thought it was close to full, especially since didn't Hetherington refuse to bring back that lad from Quins as he didn't want to go over it?
Fair play for getting him back though, damn good player and as a lover of Rugby League it infuriated me that he went to kick and clap.
