Not the performance, no. But you referred to the importance of the result. Which will be precisely zilch should we lose at Hull.

"The Golden Generation finally has its Golden Fleece! They have Wembley Cup Final winners medals to add to their collection." 23/08/2014:

Quote: Clearwing "That said, my concern is that the magic weekend could easily be our side's biggest game this year, as indeed it could have in each of the last 3 seasons, in terms of occasion and attendance. It's a big concern to me that each time we've failed to perform at the required level. That suggests to me that should we even get to a final we may be more likely to lose it than we are to win it. I think that edge has now gone.'"

Difference is, if we reach a final we'll be treating as such. Think one of our biggest problems we've had with Magic Weekend lately is that we treat it as just another league game and Wigan approach it almost like a cup or playoff game. If we approached yesterday like we did the Hudds cup game then it would've been a different match.

What evidence have you for your assertion above?
Or is it solely based on how you perceive that we played compared to how Wigan played?

PS I don't intend to get into a pointless debate with you on this.

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.:icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg

We would also have needed Wigan to play as bad as Huddersfield did on the day - some on here are reading a lot into the Huddersfield game yet are prepared to write off a poor Leeds performance say against Warrington - you can't have it both ways.

Wigan dominated Leeds in the forwards as did Warrington with very similar outcomes. I think you idea that Leeds didn't take it seriously is clutching at straws as was your comment about Bentham.

Quote: Sal Paradise "How can you say that its hypothetical nonsense.'"

I can say it very easily. You see I watched the 2 games and didn't wet myself just because Leeds lost. I looked at the performances of all 4 teams (Wigan, Leeds, Catalans & Huddersfield) and then made an assessment based on that viewing. Huddersfield didn't play very well. Therefore I predict, had they been playing Wigan, that they'd have lost.
Leeds didn't play very well, but put in a better performance against much better opposition. Therefore I predict had Leeds been playing Huddersfield that Leeds would've won. Relatively easily.

It's a prediction. The same as your assertion that Leeds won't finish top of the league is a prediction. Would you call that hypothetical nonsense?

I know what is nonsense though. Comparing the results of 2 teams against different clubs and drawing conclusions from that. It's not hypothetical but it is a steaming great pile of bo11ocks.

Don't think it's tough to tell the noticeable difference between when we've been truely switched on and focused such as the Hudds cup game or the cup semi and final last year. Even Ablett I read in the YEP last saying they'd be treating it like just any other game. Compare that mindset to the comments coming out of the team before and after the Hudds game a few weeks back, like chalk and cheese really.

I think we did approach it in the same way. Wigan didn't approach it like Hudds though.

I didn't say they didn't take it seriously, but not big occasion/attendance seriously like they would if we get to Wembley or Old Trafford.

As for writing performances of, you're guilty of writing off most wins we get with saying it was the opposition who were poor. You read into the lost at last year Magic weekend as the sole reason for our league showings for the remainder of the season.

Yes I would - it debate/opinion nothing more it isn't fact we will not know until the end of the regular season. You are suggesting your point is fact - far from it - hypothetical nonsense as I said. Who would have thought Hull KR would turn round a 60 point difference against the same side a week later. Based on your logic that would not have been possible? Theory and actual two very different things.

Quote: G1 "They are indeed right now, at the end of May. Let's hope they remain there in September. To do so their form over the next four months will have to improve dramatically to the form they've been in over the last 12 months.'"

Or... to do so they'll have to maintain this season's form for the next 7 weeks to give them a good advantage in the play offs and hopefully a home tie in the semis.
What's all this 'going back 12 months' malarky. The squad this season is different to the squad that ran out of steam last season. We've brought in (potentially) one of the best imports in years, we've lost some dead wood and players like Singleton & Sutcliffe are looking a different proposition to last year.

EDIT - Not to mention Stevie Ward, who's been like signing a new player.

So you're saying we'll lose to Hull at home in 3 weeks then? I doubt we'll lose more than 1 more game tbh, probably Wigan away.
I bet you're a right laugh on game day Sal. Do you cheer for the opposition?
