The NRL have already said if he can do a few years in Super League with nothing wrong, then his ban would be removed in the NRL. The ban is an NRL one only.

Might be good motivation for him to join us for a couple of years then.

It could be that Furner was letting some of the "shoe ins" know they were no longer good enough and they ran to the head teacher to complain.

I’d be very surprised if Marshall was named head coach at Leeds. It would strike me as a very much “on the cheap” appointment. Read the Fax board and you’ll see the majority had certainly fallen out of love with him and their form has picked up notably since he left. When we beat Fax this season they were a shadow of the side they were.

If he was an assistant that makes even less sense as surely a new head coach would want to appoint his own assistants?

I think you will be lucky to find one Australian coach appointed over here who has appointed their own assistants in the last five years or so. Doesn't happen, they won't get Visas for Aussie assistants they know. So have to go with the best available where they are going. I am not saying that is right, and I certainly think at the very least any appointment that coach should have had the opportunity to speak with first.

Seems odd. Surely it would be better to wait until the head coach is in place so he can interview potential assistants? To appoint someone beforehand suggests that the team is run by Sinfield and Hetherington rather than the head coach.

This may well have happened, I don’t think the decision to sack Furner was made just last weekend.
