| Quote: Clearwing "That said, my concern is that the magic weekend could easily be our side's biggest game this year, as indeed it could have in each of the last 3 seasons, in terms of occasion and attendance. It's a big concern to me that each time we've failed to perform at the required level. That suggests to me that should we even get to a final we may be more likely to lose it than we are to win it. I think that edge has now gone.'"
Good point, but you seem to have forgotten we won at Wembley last season, in a final and in front of our biggest crowd of the year. Much bigger than Magic Weekend and with more to play for than 2 league points. We didn't just win, we comprehensively out played our opponents on every level. Just as we did again Warrington in the semi.
We've already destroyed Hudds in the cup this season, which was much more important than 2 league points in Newcastle.

I'd not forgotten Wembley but I do think we might well have lost against a different opponent - as happened at last year's MW.
As for Hudds, let's see how we fare at Hull before deciding on the value of that result.

You did forget to mention though, whilst writing off the last couple of years. Cas beat Wigan en route, we beat Wire. No one was going to beat Leeds last year at Wembley.

So if Hull knock us out, which is a possibility considering their current form, that somehow lessons our performance against Hudds ?
I love this place

Serious question - Are we still including Hudds as one of these improving teams that Leeds need to fear? Or, after their recent results, are we now writing them off?

In the last 6 rounds Huddersfield have dropped 2 points so I would suggest they are on an upward curve - in the same period Leeds have dropped 7 points - logic suggests one team is improving and the other is not. I appreciate that doesn't fit with your "All is fine and dandy at Leeds" but they are the facts.

It's the same thing week in week out with McDermott as he can't read a game. If Plan A doesn't work there's no Plan B never has been and never will be!

| Since last year's magic weekend game in Super League fixtures Leeds have won 16 games, lost 14 and drawn 2.
Not sure what that means, if anything, and it's not as dreadful as some make out but neither is it awe inspiring. I don't usually agree with the pessimists but it's not great.

They were terrible. Sal also "[iforgot[/i" to mention that they got walloped out of the cup by a team of shackleton high seat loving pensioners, with no hunger, on the decline.....
Wigan got well beaten in the cup by an injury ravaged bottom 4 club before getting absolutely battered in France by a mid-table team. I can guarantee no one wrote them off on here in the way Leeds get written off after a defeat.
Seems like it's one rule for one team and different rules for others around here.

And yet, they're top of the league with only 4 defeats and the best attack in SL this year.

| Huddersfield's last 6 games:
Catalans x2
Castleford
Hull FC
Salford
Leeds
Leeds last 6 games:
Wigan
Hull KR
Widnes
Huddersfield
Warrington
St Helens
To compare the 2 as indicators of some kind of form is a bit pointless. If we'd played Huddersfield today, putting in the same performance as we did against Wigan, we'd have won. Conversely if Huddersfield had played Wigan they'd have lost.

They are indeed right now, at the end of May. Let's hope they remain there in September. To do so their form over the next four months will have to improve dramatically to the form they've been in over the last 12 months.

True but you could hardly say Leeds looked high on cohesion and confidence?
In the last six weeks they have played Catalans x 2, Leeds, Castleford, Salford and Hull of which only 2 were at home.
Next week they play Wigan so that should be an interesting game and a test of where they are currently at.

A loss ratio of 25% add to the worst defence of any of the top five sides. We can all make the stats work in our favour.
Leeds should remain on top for the next two weeks - Wakey will not be a game and I cannot see Cas providing a real test at Headingley.
